psycik Wrote:sounds like you have something taking focus when you play a video, something like ffdshow in the system tray or the xvid codec...if they appear inthe sys tray then they can steal focus from the gbpvr app and this will probably be why your remote wont work.

The only way to tell is to start up on of the same avis in window media player (maybe) and see if anything shows up in the sys tray...and if it doesn, try and figure out how to stop it doing that...

I think that's it.
I just opened windows explorer and opened some of the files by right clicking then telling it open with WMP. It opens in WMP but a "Divx" thing shows up in the tray and a little divx logo shows on the bottom of the video them fades out. When I stop the video the divx thing in the tray goes away.

What should I do now?

Thanks! :o

You might try this:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/StartGBPVR

Actually, looks like that script might have to be updated for PVRX2, it only looks for the old GUI.

After many complaints about the divx decoder stealing the focus from all sorts of apps, divx provided a utility to disable the tray icon. You can download it from here: http://support.divx.com/cgi-bin/divx.cfg...faqid=1630

Thank you! Smile

Fine.

I'm ordering the video switch. The tv card is boxed up for return. Done deal.
No jokes. Just a statement that I am happy to see my recommendation came to use even if it wasn't me you listened to. Are you going to get a learning remote or do you have one already?

Hello there,

I don't know who I listened to now, I'm lost in all these 11+ pages.
It's been a long week.. Really.

Ok, here's what I ordered,
http://www.svat.com/productDisplay.php?i...yNumber=10

It comes with a puny little remote.

But, I have this really awesome green glowy remote.
I bought it a few years ago. It was stupid because you could cough from 10 feet away and it would light up. Dogs bark, it lights up.
The batteries were dying like in a week. Very naughty.
So my ex opened it up and found the motion sensor and removed it.
I haven't changed the batteries in it in over a year now.

So I plan to use it to replace the dinky little remote that comes with the switch. What's so great about this one it that it is so powerful you can use it from down the street. Just kidding. But really, this thing rocks.

What would be very, very cool is if I could use it to replace the Mickey Mouse POS MCE remote too. I really dislike that thing.
It looks almost identical to this one,
[Image: RC6.jpg]
plus there's a receiver box thing on a long USB wire.

Maybe someone knows how to fix my glowy remote to replace the sucky MCE remote?

Oh yes! And the suggestions to fix the problem with the remote not working in some videos!
Ok, the startgbpvr program didn't work.. Sad
But, someone posted a link to something that disabled the divx thing.
That works great!
So now I pretty much have full control of all my media files and I'm on the path to becoming a happy camper instead of a cranky witch.. Wink

There's still some files that won't play. Like Xena. I have tons of Xena shows in mp4. And lots of cartoons for the kids too. Actually I have tons of other stuff in mp4.
The X said that mp4 is the cat's meow and it would give me good picture quality and save me space. So that's what we went with and began converting everything to that format. It never was an issue before because we used VLC to play them back and everything was cool.
Is there a plugin for gb that will let me play back my mp4 stuff?

Thanks guys!

That remote is a "learning" remote, so you can use it to replace your MCE remote. The process is tedious though (you have to program each button you want to use). See page 31 of the Kameleon remote manual.

As for MP4 playback in GB-PVR. It can be done, you just need an MP4 DirectShow decoder like FFDShow. Before you install it, I will let someone weigh in on this. I don't use FFDShow personally and I have no need for MP4 decoders, but someone else can tell you the best decoder to use for that file type and if it is FFDShow, how to install it without it taking over your system.

That someone would be sub. He's kind of a big thing around here so it's a good idea to thank him by name/handle and not as "someone". Wink

Windows normally doesnt have any components to play audio/video in a .mp4 container. Try installing the Haali media splitter from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Haal...litter.htm.
