If you have access to a web server and can make a really short 10 second clip available, I'm sure someone could look at the file and tell your what decoders you need to play it.

Oh dear.. I have no idea how to edit them. I tried to load them into like iMovie and a few other Mac proggies but they all only seem to do Apple mov files. I guess that mp4 stuff is turning out to be a pretty bad news deal.. Sad

Here is a list of software that will play back AAC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Au...ia_players
FFdshow was already recommended and is probably what you should use. I had to install it to play AC3 audio.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure ffdshow would do the job. Note though, new version of it require you to specify the apps it will be used in, so you'd probably need to add PVRX2.exe to that list.

Ah, ok. I guess I overlooked or forgot about that in one of my fits of rage.
I installed something the other day (I forget now what it was) and it plays the audio but it says it quits working in 30 days then you have to pay up.

I guess I need to uninstall that one and install the one you said.
Uh oh, got to run and pick up the little one from school, I'm late!

Oh no. Not again..
I went to download it and it says it's a tryout. Does that mean it only runs for 30 days too? Or am I just not understanding something here?

See, this is why I hate windows. You can't get FREE software unless it's infected with spyware, adware or something much worse.
At least on my Linux computers I've never had to pay for anything except when I bought the OS a few times, though I could have gotten it for free I wanted to support the company.

But windows, there is no such thing as free. At all.
Well, maybe one or two things. But not much..
Grrrrr.....

Try here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

for the FFDShow MPEG-4 codec.

I prefer this distro:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Li...c_Pack.htm

This includes FFDShow and most every other codec you might need with GBPVR to show video/audio files.

And they are free!!

As JavaWiz said, its free. You definitely shouldnt be getting 'try out' messages. This is a widely used set of decoder which doesnt have any spyware.

Tryout is the newest version of FFdshow. The original creator hasn't been seen in an age, so other people picked it up and work on their "tryout" version. I think the main benefit of it is the use of dual-core CPUs.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Oh cool!

I'm going to look at that now.
It's kind of hard to work on this with little ones, they get first priority.

Ok, question is, I've clicked on and installed so much stuff I don't know what I've done anymore. Is there anyway to like purge it all out and start over? I don't know what to uninstall now. I'm just lost.
Windows gets me all flustered, I'm just not used to it.
Here's a list of stuff that shows up in the program files folder.
I don't know what should stay and what can go.
I know if I go in and start deleting stuff I'm gonna break something. Rolleyes
Code:
3ivx
Apple Software Update
Common Files
ComPlus Applications
devnz
DivX
Grisoft
Haali
Illustrate
Internet Explorer
iPod
iTunes
IVT Corporation
K-Lite Codec Pack
MediaInfo
Messenger
microsoft frontpage
Microsoft Plus!
Movie Maker
Mozilla Firefox
MSN
MSN Gaming Zone
nanoPEG for WinTV
NetMeeting
NVIDIA Corporation
Online Services
Outlook Express
QT Lite
VideoLAN
Windows Media Player
Windows NT
WinRAR
xerox
Xvid

Like 9/10 of that stuff, I have no idea what it is.. I mean I can guess at it but.. I'm good at breaking things. Real good.. Smile
