hi all.
i created a method of changing wallpaper everytime i open the gbpvr.
first of all (if the guys who made gbpvr read this) THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SOFTWARE.
i tried sagetv and MCE - sorry, wont and cant replace gbpvr.
its so fun to just change what ever you want in your skin or software by changing the xml.
i redid the whole language.heb and fixed it. uploaded the file here.
first of all i created a new skin based on the Blue-Retro-SHV but improved it a bit.
added a transperent background mask. .
now lets start.
install the software called wallpaper master.
its a freeware wallpaper changer software.
after it is installed, select the directory you would like to use as your wallpaper stash.
then go to "further options" and mark a V at "auto start at windows logon" & "auto close after 30 seconds"
each time you open your machine, the wallpaper changed and the software closes after 30 seconds.
it will change as well when the software is started, you will see further down the road
inside the image converter zip file there are 2 files
ConvertImage.exe
ConvertImageContext.dll
copy these 2 to program files\wallpaper master folder
in the other.zip file copy kill.exe and gbpvr.bat to your skin2\*yourskin* folder
create a shortcut to the gbpvr.bat
edit the gbpvr.bat file with notepad and change a few things
at the begining change the path to reflect your skin folder (at the move command).
under that change the location of the kill.exe file (if you copied it to your skin folder then just change the path)
in the other.zip file there is a file called background mask.png file. this is a transperent mask file so you will have a clean wallpaper display. copy it to the skin2\*yourskin*\menu folder
i will go through the batch now.
first of all we go to the wallpaper master's folder.
start the wallpaper.exe, this will start the application but it will close automaticly after 30 seconds.
it changed the wallpaper to something randomly (or by category, you can set this inside the wallpaper master program)
now we convert the bpm wallpaper image to a jpg file and rename it mainbackground.jpg.
then we move it to the skins2\*yourskin2*\menu folder. (i hope you changed it in the gbpvr.bat)
this will allow us to restart the pvrx2.exe with the new background.
now we kill any instance of the wallpaper master software (if for some reason it didnt close automaticly)
we then kill any instance of pvrx2.exe (so we can reload it with a new background)
all we have to do is start a new instance of pvrx2 with a new background
then we kill the batch file to close it.
i set a windows scheduler to automaticly run the gbpvr.bat every morning at 6 am so each day i have a new wallpaper.
it was all done with freeware softwares.
you can even have a key on your remote (like i have) to run the gbpvr just to refresh the wallpaper.
in addition, if you have an hebrew interface like i do, replace the language.heb.xml file in gbpvr\languages folder to have an update file.
contact me if you need any further assitance
hope you enjoy this.
i would love to see a feature like this hardcoded in the software (just wishfull thinking)
