Is there a way (such as with $agetv) where duplicate shows already recorded will be skipped?

For example, here in the US, TBS plays “Family Guy” twice a night.  But on some nights the show airs at say 10pm and the same show will air again at 1:30am.  Then again on some nights it may air at 10:30pm and the same show will air again at say 2:00am.  Different times on any given night but always the same show twice each night.

The only way to make sure you record it is, “Record season”, because it may come on at different times on any given night.  However, “Record season” will also record it (the same episode) again later that night.

I thought that zap2it included a unique serial number in each show.  Is it possible for GBPVR to check if it already has that episode recorded and skip it?  That would be an awesome feature.

Or maybe I’m missing something, and am doing it wrong.

Thanks again for a great program.  It has greatly enriched me and my family’s lives by allowing us to watch TV together on our schedule.

Best regards.

Check out the CDK Scheduler and XRecord V16. The CDK Scheduler adds the ability to skip duplicate recordings, and XRecord V16 adds a frontend interface to manage the CDK Scheduler scheduled recordings.

To see how to manual setup the CDK Scheduler yourself by editing the PriorityRecordings.xml file, read the CDK Scheduler Examples thread in the Community forum.

CDK Scheduler and XRecord both can be found at the Wiki:

I do use xrecord 1.6 and I did download and install the CDK Scheduler. But it is escaping me on how to use it. I see when I run the cmd line program, using the sample .xml file, it adds an entry to my things to be recorded. But do I have to run that program manually every day to weed out dupes? And I have serveral dupes in my schedule now and it didnt remove any of them, just added the soap opera enty.

Am I misusing the app?

Thx for a speedy reply.

You can add the PriorityRecordings.exe file, to a file called PostUpdateEPG.bat. Place this file in your GBPVR directory, and after the episode guide is updated the PriorityRecording.exe file will be run, and automagicly schedule the recordings for you. This way you don't have to manually run the program every night.

You can then use Xrecord 1.6 to add new recordings to the PriorityRecordings.xml file, or you can add them manually by following some of the examples in the CDK Scheduler Examples thread in the Community Forum.

Thanks alot!!

I spent some time looking at the docs and after about 2 hrs. I got it right.

Wish there was a windows gui to help config that.

I still dont see how xrecord 1.6 works with it, but I made me a .xml file to skip the repeats.

Thx again

In xrecord (updated in 17) look for the scheduler tab on the right, might have to scroll down. It allows creation of new priorities and settings, as well as editing of old ones. So you never have to touch the xml file directly.
