I'm just trying to start using this for the first time.

I have set up to use the DVB EPG Broadcast.
I clicked the map digital chanels button and it scaned the tuner and got a list of the channels.

Was that correct?

I then clicked Update EPG and got the updating EPG dialog box and for each Scanning channel it did a count down then after a time (variable) I got the standard MS your app has crashed do you want to send a report.
Other times it just freezes.
This happens if I try and update EPG in either the config app or GB-PVR.

I am using windows XP SP2, have net 2 installed.

cheers

yey - it worked.

I read elsewhere about having the recording service running and running the reregister batch. Did both of those and now I get a TV schedule.

More questions to follow as I play.

Sad
ho - I spoke to soon

These are the things that I'm having trouble with both GB-PVR and PVRX2:

Sometimes when getting the EPG using the DVB EPG Broadcast it crashes. (you must had a bad memory access there!! Wink).

When viewing the guide many of the channels have no program information.

When I eventually get to watching a channel it always shows a pop up box indicating that the signal strength is good but the quality is bad and suggests I check the antenna.

I have windows XP SP2 and a Hauppauge Nova-T using the BDA drivers.

In the channels listing I get 2 entries for most (but not all) channels, for example "BBC1" and "BBC1 (Audio #2)". What is the difference and does it affect the EPG I am failing to get?
I've not tried all of them but some have no audio!!

I also have some sheering between the interlaced fields on moving items - I've seen this before on other things but not really sure why - is it the iterlaced fields getting swapped or is it converting to progressive.

Sorry for the list. The program looks good and with the skin and plug-in dev its nice and flexible.

cheers

Hi thanks for the update info unfortunately the EPG problem is still an issue. The signal strength warning is fixed though.

So even with the version 1.1.5 I still get these problems:

Sometimes when getting the EPG using the DVB EPG Broadcast it crashes. (you must had a bad memory access there!! ).

When viewing the guide many of the channels have no program information, presumably because it failed to get through them all.

In the channels listing I get 2 entries for most (but not all) channels, for example "BBC1" and "BBC1 (Audio #2)". What is the difference and does it affect the EPG I am failing to get?
I've not tried all of them but some have no audio!!

The BBC1 and BBC1 Audio2 thing are odd things like alternate languages/subtitles I think.
You only have to map the first one i.e. BBC1

Sorry, can't help with the others, I use the radiotimes EPG.

These are always a pain to locate. Pretty much the only way to do it is if you have access to a web server then I need to get you to record a 200MB or so transport stream file from the problem frequency, so I can play it back here and try to find what it doesnt like about the data.

If the show name is there, but with no description, then chances are there is no description provided.

200MB is a bit big - do you think it is a particular data stream from one channel?
ie, can I record the data for one channel it is scanning. Is that how it works? is the EPG for the channel transmitted with the channel, so the process is, tune to the channel, capture the EPG data, process it, tune to the channel? In which case you basically want the data which would also included the tv image and sound? We could try it and see how big it really ends up.

The no description for the channels is that it says there is "no show details" for every hour. I guess that means that that channel has no TV guide captured.

Yes, I think its some difference in the data that GB-PVR is not coping with. There is one stream of EPG listings per mux. A mux is the digital signal on a specific frequency that carries five or so channels.

Having a 200MB or so file would give me about 45 seconds of the full data being transmitted on a mux (epg data + video + audio + meta data etc), allowing me to play it back here and hopefully reproduce the problem.
