I noticed last night that two back to back shows changed oddly - the first getting chopped and the 2nd starting early. The logs too old my the time I spotted it. Tried two back to backs this morning (not my choice of program!) "pingu" 0920-0930 and cbeebie 0930-1000. Recording service logs enclosed along with config.xml.
It appears that the prepadding on the 2nd program forced itself on the first.

I have a dual tuner nova-t-500 and the RF side of a PVR150 and all three are capable of recording this channel two digital and one analogue.

I would have hoped for either 2nd recording on another tuner or padding ignored??.

regards
Martin

Not really the same. My problem was that the pre-padding of the second recording was cutting into the real time of the first recording. (temporarily ignoring the fact that there were two spare tuners available).
I only have 1 minute set, but if I'd set 10 minutes, it would have chopped the 1st by 10 minutes.
I thought the default action was to lose post and pre padding at the overlap. I also seem to recall sub mentioned he was working on possibly changing the method he used to allocate tuners??

Actually perry had what you're looking for, read those posts Smile. If you set the flag that's in those post to "true", a second tuner will take over recording your first program when second is set to start.

The bit that caught my attention from those threads was:-

sub Wrote:You're right that having <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> set to true can lead to conflicts (that dont get recorded). The default is false to avoid this scenario.

I'd rather lose a minute or two from the end of a programme (that may be snipped from the following one) than miss a complete recording.

Martin, I've noticed on my setup that Pre-padding overrides Post-padding. (I.e., Post-padding gets ignored when there is another show set to record immediately after the one currently recording). Since I only have a single tuner, I avoid the end-of-show-cutoff by removing the Pre-padding for any show that is set to record directly after another show. This allows the first show to record until the end, then GBPVR switches to the second show right on time, instead of one minute early. To make the change I just select "Record" instead of "Quick Rec" for the second show and set Pre-Padding to zero. Most of the time it works great. Smile

If there are back to back recordings then no post-padding on the first recording or pre-padding on the second recording is performed. If you think it is happening, then zip and attach your recording service logs and the times for the shows and I'll take a look.

The logs in my first post show prepadding of the second programme being honoured by taking time out of the first recording. 0920-0930 and 0930-1000. Prepadding of 1 minute.

Harry, most of my recordings come from a large list of 'season type' of recordings that get done automagically, so I don't get the chance to remove prepadding.

Thanks Sub, I'll have to check to see if it still happens since the upgrade. I noticed it a few months back and trained my wife to always manually remove the pre-padding on trailing shows so her other shows didn't get messed up. Cool

I've scheduled some shows to record back to back this afternoon. I'll check them to see if they record the full hour.

Martin, I haven't used the season recording, so I didn't think about that. That could make it a bit of a challenge. :o
