the bug was was created when i switched over to "/settings/PluginsSettings/MyVideosPlugins" it was trying to write it to "/settings/MyVideosPlugin" (its funny i switched over to make peoples life easier ).

here's a brief idea also about movie info etc. Perhaps you have personal video and want to write your own details, how would someone write it and insert it into the db.

currently you would have to edit the database file. to be honest, i didnt think of this situation. i might either (this is were you get to vote )
a. Bring back the .details files (so just put one of those in the dir)
b. Write a program that can edit the database directly without you needing database
c. be really lazy and do nothing about it (my favourite option )).

Well i guess c then, its really not that important..If you did bring back details could that be used with db details. for ex: scan your files write those in db, and then remove one file from db and then assign it a details descritption yourself to be placed back in the directory were the personal video is. Great plugin by the way..the best. Reven its really not important at this point...

I personally prefer the old .jpg .details way of doing things. Then again, I prefer .ini files to the registry

To me it's simpler to maintain, if I need to reinstall etc, make quick tweaks to descriptions. Obviously I don't know your future plans for the My series, but to my mind the use of a database is a bit of an overkill (though I'm sure a useful programming exercise!.

But.... just my opinion!

im probably going bring back the .details, but only as a simple one line textfile (xml is to confusing for most people) read that in, add it to the database then delete the .details file (i like the database, i hate having lots of extra files around, i found it annoying). now there maybe a problem if the .details doesnt have write permission, where every time you navigate to the directory it will read the .details, try and delete it, and add it to the database (slower, by like 0.00002 seconds, but still a little bit slower).

also what are peoples thoughts about deleting the posters aswell and putting them in the database (only exact names, not the folder images) it would mean people could easily update the database by just putting a couple of files in a dir, navigating to that dir, then added and files are gone, but info is stored.

readded .details files:
- one line text file (no xml) just the description of the file (if you have any .details left over from a previous release, i suggest you delete them before using this).
- it reads the file, adds the info to the database, then deletes the .details file (well tries to, if it cant, it just doesnt, no crashing! (ill worry about the images when i get more feedback).

Don't know how hard this would be but i will ask anyway. Maybe put it on your to do list. When reading the link file for scanning different directories. It added the movies or files fine, but they are not in alphabetic order. Is there any way this could be changed so they are..
