Hi,

I'm looking at building a new quiet small server and most small skinny mini-atx boxes / boards I've seen have one (or even no) PCI slots for my existing PVR150's. Those that do have PCI, do not look like they'd fit a standard (NON-low-profile) PVR150, let alone two.

So I thought how about lie them flat on a PCI riser card? Would need a special jig at the back of the box probably to support the connectors, now transverse to "normal" card directions...

Are PCI Riser cards OK for 2 x non-low-Profile PVR150's i.e. are there any issues with both cards on the same riser on the PCI Bus?

Anyone doing this ...hate to have to buy a USB box, not sure what I'd do with my PVR150's.

k.

The Silverstone LC11 case did exactly what you are looking at (well two PCI cards on their sides). You should be able to buy the risers by themselves, suggest a google search on "silverstone riser" or "mcubed riser".

Cheers.

I've seen right angle PCI adaptors & even PCI ribbon cables but I have not ever seen where someone used them so I don't know if you will have problems.

Their also not what I would call cheap.

Try searching for PCI EXTENDER

Here is what I was thinking of.

I'm wondering to myself if PCI slots are all in parallel. How can it define slot1 / slot2 and interrupts etc. The old machines I used to work on with a single motherboard slot and a riser card had individual tracks to "identify" the riser slots.

Wow n-widget, that flex thing is cool!

Yeah I was thinking the same, but my old Asus TULS2-C shares IRQ's for slots 1 & 5 e.g., so might be OK?
