I am new owner of the WinTV-Nova-T-500 and I am very disappointed with the performance. I find it very slow to switch channels and the sound gets choppy every 15 minutes. It also freezes constantly. I have gbpvr and wintv installed. Is there are beginners guide to get the best out of my card or do i need to return the card.

Do you have live preview mode enabled on the misc tab of the config app? If so, it should only take about a second to change channels.

I will check when I get in from work; it is on the default setting because I have not changed much in the config.

It does not perform that much better which suggests the drivers/firmware I have are rubbish. I suspect the performance is to do with the buffering of live tv to facilitate the pause and rewind facility; I could be wrong.

Try:-

Moving it to another slot
disabling any devices that are not required in the bios.
increasing PCI latency in bios (e.g. 64)

Thanks I will give that a go. I have an old sound blaster audigy 2; do you think that could be causing the problem?

LOL now my pc wont boot up. I get no post beep. I think either my gfx card or m/b is fried.

Ater a lot of messing around with plugins and codecs to sort out problems in pvrx2 I took the plunge and reinstalled my system. I took some good advice and installed only basic codecs i.e. cc codec pack and ditched k-lite mess. Everything is working fine except the same problem as on this thread. I have exactly the same tuner. Nova T500. However I know it works as my earlier windows install got it working perfectly. This is the second scrapped install after I messed up the first installing yahoo and computer went to 1 minute boot times. I'm completely out of ideas as I tried the recording service install patch for hibernation problem, restore install of gbpvr, reinstalled codecs, and .net MS C++ redist. Always pvrx2 wants to go into time sift and slow channel changovers. Please help. What can it be?

assuming you have gbpvr set to live-preview, I would recommend that you reproduce the problem and upload your log files so someone can take a look at them
