Hi!

i am a former SnapStream BeyondTV user and I must say that I am very pleased to have found gbpvr and it is simply amazing software and I congratulate the developers and all the people that make the plugins and everyone who input their thought to make this top of the line software. Well Done Everyone!

I found this site 1 day ago and I have a dual tuner setup using zap2xml for guides and it is wonderful. I am very satisfied with setting things up and I learned very quickly from scratch. Great wiki and the walkthrough's are ace!

I have about 15 days worth of programming guide and I really really need a feature for upcoming shows and movies.

I need a default search plugin that will display all the movies starting next hour kinda thing or next 2 hours or user defined hour blocks.

I don't want to see any movies currently in progress and I only want movies or shows starting that are set by category like entertainment, music, live, news etc......

Does that plugin exist yet?

I am always looking through the guide for things and I would love a "whats starting next hour plugin" ....

I use a remote so I cannot do text searches since I have no keyboard and default movie type searches would be awesome.

anyone have a plugin or an idea how I can make a search like that?

Cheers and thanks for having me on the site

You might look at SearchWiz, not exactly all the features, but close. If you post your wishes for enhancements in the SearchWiz forums, I'll see what I can do to accomodate new features..

SearchWiz goes by days (ie. today is closest to what you are asking) it does show programs in progress, but none that have already finished.

I could possibly add hour time period as well.

You can set filters based on the genres in the EPG. This should match your requirement.

You can pretty much set most parameters in a filter, but if you need to supply text, SearchWiz will treat the numbers on your remote like an SMS keypad as well, like text-messaging on your phone.

thanks for the great reply Smile

I tried SearchWiz and that is what lead to me to this post. I tried to save a set search but could not find the search for *.* no search results were found. the plugin is very close to what I would love but I could not seach anything using my remote so that was hard.

I also tried the xsearch pligin with the keyboard feature but kept getting stuck on the keys and could not use it to type in the search and press enter... frustrating.

Can a moderator move this post into the SearchWiz forum?

I think this would be a great feature everyone will like especially if you have a few people over and sitting at the bigscreen and it will make it easier for everyone to agree on a show coming up.

it is also wonderful for advance recording by finding a movie to record late at night say monday 2am - 5am so you can record it and watch it later.

I am always recording so anything to make discovering new shows at times when there is nothing to record would be perfect.

I have over 500 channels on cable and sat so this would be great!

Cheers JavaWiz for your thoughts

I was thinking since many people are using msn or yahoo or zap2it guide lists that probably have no catagory info downloaded (movie sports etc..)

so a real treat would be just a simple button "starting next hour" and this would display all the show results starting in the next hour block...

what do you think?

shows in progress should not display as it annoys me when I find a good movie or something only to click on the channel and the shows been on for 30 minutes arghhh

To be honest this is what I did when starting with GBPVR as well. Very soon I found out that I was recording more than I would ever watch so now I look in the recordings list and just pick "a la carte" what I want to seeBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin.

Nevertheless this would be an interesting set of features.

Maybe you should have a look at the Enhanced Web Admin too. It has an autosearch feature and can even automatically warn about what is comming up. You can even set it to autoschedule the recording. Currently this only works when accessing the EWA but the developper is working on making it do the job in the background.

Ok, I'll take a look at this thread when I'm in SearchWiz next time. I'm currently working on some changes for MovieWiz, so it might be a week or two before I get a chance to look at it....

I highly recommend the excelllent Enhanced Web Admin (EWA). With the latest incarnation you can quickly and easily search and choose, autorecord and all from work.

between searching for a movie using the filter in SearchWiz and searching for a movie in MovieWiz? I am very happy with the results in SearchWiz for movies so I haven't been tempted to try MovieWiz.

Thanks JavaWiz that would be wonderful!

Thanks for the info Koenie and jksmurf. I just tried to get the Enhanced Web Admin (EWA) running and I can't seem to figure how to get it up on the browser... I posted in the Enhanced Web Admin (EWA) forum asking for help.

Great community here!

Thanks for having me and for the help.

SearchWiz searches the EPG for programs. MovieWiz is a cataloger of your recorded shows.
