When it sounds like running user code is running on these devices is a reality, then I'll also buy one, and will do some changes to help you with the mpeg-ts side of things. I do think it'd be good to support mpeg-ps container though. There is a ton of people using analog devices, or mixed setups of digital + analog.

I finally got received one of these, and it's doing a great job with the many samples that I've collected for HD and in mkv and mpeg-ts format as well as mpeg2, xvid and avi, vob iso etc all downcoverted to my SD composite monitor I do do for development work.

I think might limit this the most for some buyers is the basic Sierra OSD at least compared to the MVP and the fact that the PCH does not have DTS licensing so anything with DTS will need a capable receiver. Oh well, I've wanted to buy the Onkyo TX-SR605 for a while, I just wish it was cheaper here in
Canada.

Martin,

1. I don't fully understand the limitations?
2. Do you think that mvpmc will run on it?
3. What does the Onkyo TX-SR605 do that it doesn't?

1. I think that GBPVR screens won't look as nice on this box as they do on the MVP, it really looks like a 256 colour display

2. I am almost positive emulation mode could run on it.

3. The Onkyo has the audio decoders that I need built in. As an example, it would allow me to hear DTS audio (and I guess True HD and some of the audio modes I don't have source files for yet). BluRay HD-DVD etc source files are a whole new generation of audio.

Hmm. Sad

Would this improve the 256 colour display thingy above?

OK. I'm not that concerned about that TBH. I'd be happy with HD, Xvid and H264 support with GBPVR via mvpmc emulation :-)

I'm fairly sure he is saying 'emulation mode looks possible, but it'd be limited to 256 colours for the menus and OSD.

Yes that's correct but its only on observation, no hardware details have been provided yet. Probably the best way to get an idea about the screens is to look in the mpcclub review http://www.mpcclub.com/banner_log.php?id=5049 and check out the screen captures. In real life they don't look any better.

Hmm. I looked at the screen captures. That's fairly ordinary...

Then again looking at Hauppauge's MVP screen captures you wouldn't have expected what sub achieved. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
