12/08/2007 : 1.0.12.0 (WizUiHelper 1.0.14.0, WizWebHelper 1.0.4.3)
  • Added ability to specify scraping order of sites to lookup thumbnail images.
  • Added '*' to end of movie title if never watched.
  • Added last watched date to movie info popup after file location.
  • Added archive locations on Plugin Settings tab. If files are moved/archived/transcoded into these directories, they will be automatically found without having to re-locate them.
  • If video has been transcoded and extention changed to .avi, .mp4 or .mpeg, it will be be automatically found without having to change the db.
  • Added Import of GBPVR recordings into MovieWiz db feature to Manager config on Add Content tab
  • Added Import recording feature to Plugin. Ctrl-R (Red remote button) will perform an import of your recordings into MovieWiz db.
  • Added Auto Categorization feature on Manage Categories tab. When importing recorded shows, you can assign specific categories to every episode. For example, all Heros episodes can be assigned to a category 'Heros' and/or 'Series'.

Cool Bananas! Thanks JW.

I have a Q re "Auto Categorization". How does it work, exactly?

I'm a bit confused and a bit afraid to play around in case I stuff up the database, but I have 12 episodes of "Child of our time" for e.g. and rather than have these all appearing as indivudal items in the full list, I was hoping this feature would group episodes? Does it?

... or do I need to add these as a new category? Can it be grouped in two seperate categories?

1st, to be safe, make a copy of the MovieWiz.db3.

When you 'import recordings', the program looks queries the GBPVR Recording Service and gets a list of all successfully recorded programs. It walks thru the list looking for ones that are not already in the DB. When it finds one, it checks the Title against the Auto Catagorize list, if it finds it, it adds those categories to the ones already in your EPG (ie genres).

So to group a specific series, yes, create a category (ie for Star Trek, make a category called 'Star Trek Episodes'), then in auto categories, mark that series (ie. Star Trek) to be automatically added to the category you just added. (NOTE: You must have a pending Star Trek recording for 'Star Trek' to show up in the list.)

Programs can be in 0 to many categories. So a tv show like Star Trek could be in Science Fiction, Adventure and Star Trek if you wanted.

I won't be able to install this for a few days, but does it include any more site choices for tv episode lookup?

Not sure exactly what you mean.

MovieWiz is a cataloger of shows on your system, either recorded or downloaded. It will hit the internet to grab thumbnails and movie (IMDB.com) / tv episode (TheTvDb.com) details for each recording.

SearchWiz is an EPG tool that provides a number of ways to search the EPG and display details about the results. It also allows you to schedule recordings and reminders.

I was just referring to the earlier version only having Amazon and yahoo as choices to look up info on dvd rips of TV episodes. You answered my question with TVDb.

OK, let me try and understand this, using "Child of Our Time", which is a series and a documentary.

Step 1: I choose the Settings Screen and create a category in Box E called "Child of Our Time Series"

Step 2: Now Moviewiz has already seen that more than instance of "Child of Our Time" exists in the db (as well as Changi, Heroes ER etc.) and "auto-categorized" it in Box A. (not really a step).

Step 3: So all I need to do is check "Child of Our Time" in Box A and then Check "Child of Our Time Series" which in Box B, having been added in Step 1, and click save. Now I will have a category for this show.

(btw there's a typo in Television category).

If that's the case it looks good, although I do have a slightly different idea (preference) of how this would be managed. I'm not sure if others think the same, but I (most often) tend to troll (actually scroll) through the All Movies list, looking for interesting movies/shows, rather than always at genres. When you have a lot of episodes of shows this scrolling takes quite a long time to get past all the episodes.

So what I had envisaged here is that the series would be "collapsed" in the All Movies list, and when you went into it it would then expand into the shows WITHIN the series. This makes the scroll list much shorter, esp, if you have say 5 shows with 20 series in each. i.e. scroll just 5 times within the list, rather than 100 (say)?

In any case the aut-cat feature is still impressive, thank you!

btw does MW (on opening) now look at the db list and check if the actual mpg/avi/iso is there and if not discard that entry from the list? I ask as I seem to have a number of "dead" entries, for shows where the folder exists, but not the mpg file (for some reason sometimes a delete kills the mpg but not the folder, e.g.)

Cheers

Kristian

What you've described is a great idea, but is not easily adapted into the way MovieWiz is currently written. I like the idea of collapsing and expanding episodes within series, but this will take some thought and work to incorporate into existing flow.

Also note, the auto-catagorization ONLY works when the movie is being imported. If it already exists, you will manually have to add to the appropriate cateogory.

MovieWiz will prompt to delete a movie if it does not exist. It will attempt to locate if the extension has changed and/or it has moved into one of the archive directories. Also, you're right, it does not delete the directory, only the entry in the db.

It does not look to see if the movie exists prior to displaying the list though. I think that may slow things down too much, so I opted to pop a dialog if you attempt to watch a movie that does not exist.

I might be able to add a 'clean-up' function within the config program though, or possibly another 'maintenance' type panel within the plugin itself.

I have been getting ready to have a play with the new version & have been setting up the server/client as now described in the readme but have found if I set the server gbpvr config to use \\server\share\location... for it's recording directory the system disk space pie graph no longer works! I don't think I will be able to live without it Sad
