xmltv zap2it & msn scraper merge

Hi!

This is driving me insane.

I love the zap2it scraper for the 14 day guide but hate that it has no actor info or age so you cannot tell if a movie is worth recording.

Msn scraper has about a 3 day guide that has some additional info like who the actor is in the movie and that makes it a bit better to enjoy the listings.

I have been trying to figure out a way to purge the two so that I get the full 14 day guide and msn scraper updates the two day guide so you get actors and dates and a better understanding of what the movie is like.

has anyone thought about that or can visualize a way to make these two databases work together?

I think it is a great idea and one that can update auto so you get a 14 day guide to search and more detail in a 2 day guide...

What are your thoughts?

use a different epg source, thats my thought. Try mine again and see if it'll work (although you being in canada it may not).

Honestly though I doubt there will be a lot of interest in trying to merge the two datasets together because one "wrong" thing would throw it all outta wack and keeping one scraper working is enough of a problem since anytime the website changes tthe program goes down.

I have found that the two databases have a different channel order for some reason I guess one uses channel ID and the other channel number.

I have discovered the yapi2xml scraper which displays the info the same as the 3 day msn guide only this is a 14 day guide so all is well with actor names.

much appreciated and it is always good to think of new possibilities to make the experience full as possible.

I hear folks are working on an enhanced plugin that will scape detailed info on shows in the guide using the other websites at once so the next 6 months will be exciting.

of course many will opt for guide fee's and I hope we can see a free advertised model someday to help with their server costs
