fast forward/rewind recordings

I have a new GBPVR setup and I have most things working quite well but I can't seem to fast forward or rewind recordings properly.

I can fast forward and rewind live tv but when I try to rewind a recording it will slowly skip back but it seems like it is constantly trying to go back into play mode so it rewinds a little, plays a little. If I fastforward a recording the video will just kind of skip a little bit and then play with audio out of sync at normal speed until I hit the play button.

I am running the latest version of GBPVR and my recordings were done at the medium quality setting.

Here is my hardware:

Shuttle SN41G2 with an Athlon XP 3000+ (Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard)
512 MB DDR
160 GB 8MB cache Western Digital hard drive
Hauppage PVR250 with the silver remote using the remote support built into GBPVR.
ATI Radeon 9200 SE graphics card connected to an HDTV through DVI.
For audio I just connected the built in Nforce2 audio out to my receiver.

I am using PowerDVD 5 for DVD playback. (I mention this in case there is something odd happening with my MPEG2 codecs. I currently have it set to use the InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder because if I leave it at system default video plays back in a window titled ActiveMovie Window.)

Any suggestions?

You can fast rewind and fast forward live tv if you click "Use SBE for Live TV if available" and the platform you are running GBPVR on supports it.

Is anyone else having problems with this? Is this feature supposed to work?

My fast forward/rewind doesn't work either with recordings but I can skip ahead a minute. I also noticed that the sound is out of sync if I skip ahead a lot.. Is that my mpeg decoder's fault? If I open it in media player and just skip towards the end there isn't mis-sync (seems like skipping mis-syncs it just a little bit each time). Using the stinky mpeg-2 codec.

On my setup skipping back and forth also works. I haven't noticed any problems with audio getting out of sync using skipping.

I was playing around with things a little more and I found that if I changed my audio settings I could get fast forward working. When I hit fast forward it played fast, high pitched audio along with the faster video. (Maybe the problem with the fast forward/rewind function is caused by trying to render the audio during fast speed video playback? Maybe if audio processing is turned off it would help? I really don't know here, I am just speculating.) Rewind still didn't work and I don't remember what combination of audio settings I ended up using that allowed it to somewhat work.

I'm having the same problem here.

My fast forward works in that the video and audio speeds up and plays "chipmunk" style.

My rewind doesn't really work at all. It kind of pauses for like 1/2 a second like it's going to do something, but nothing really happens.

I'm using a home-built computer with a PVR-250 card.

Sub, I know it wouldn't help people who play recordings through the PVR 350, but couldn't you create an option to use SBE to play recordings as well as live TV? FF/RW seem to work fine using SBE during live TV.

As a workaround for FF/RW I think I will set the skip button to just skip 5 - 15 seconds. I will have to play around to see what works with how I watch recordings. Since I have commercial detection installed I don't really need a 60 second skip button to skip them.
