So, you have DVDs, and want to have your entire collection at the click of a remote, just like your CDs. GBPVR does it, with a little help. Here's the formula I've used, compiled from sources here on the forum.
Viewing, Sorting, and Organizing: Movie Wiz
Pros: The UI in PVRX2 is simple, which is key in my system. It provides a way to have thumbnails and details for your movies, regardless of whether they are .mpg, .iso, or .avi. Does most of the lookup for you, but even if that falls short, you can type in your own description and even generate a thumbnail from the video itself.
Cons: To set up the movies/videos to see in Movie Wiz you need to go into the config app.
Creating files suitable for streaming to MVP: Video Archive (with add-ons)
Pros: Allows a simple interface in PVRX2 to import DVDs.
Cons:
1) UI, I don't use it... I like MovieWiz better.
2) SETUP!!! I installed the 3 suggested apps for DVD importing, but Cutteraman didn't have mplex.exe (only the .dll)
Note: To get the required mplex.exe I installed DVDAuthorGUI.
Once everything was in place, I was able to put a DVD in, do 'DVD to MPEG', run the Movie Wiz config app, import the movie (and tweak details), and then watch my DVD in PVRX2 via Movie Wiz.
I think I've given a good overview to get people started. I pieced this together with the help of Sub, gEd, and others.
