My Hauppauge winTV USB2 card is hardware encoding my TV shows and I have no problem what so ever to play them. Works great.

However, when I try to re-code them to xvid for playing on my cell using the software from Lonely Cat I get an error that the file can't be read. I thought it was a limitation in that software, but now I'm trying to re-encode using Transcoder on my freeBSD server, same result.

Is there something strange going on in the files that Hauppauge generates?

Weird... The Hauppauge cards make some of the best MPEGs around.... Just on a hunch, see if you can get the Vidomo transcoder to convert your file....

Thanks for your answer.

Yeah, vidomi seams to be able to re-encode the files. I haven't looked into how much I can control what output I want yet though.

Thanks a lot for telling me about this tool, I have tried a few distributed encoding systemt before, but it either was a #### to set up or simply never worked. I'll try this one now.

Are you aware of any other software suites that supports multiple computers?

Sorry I spelled "Vidomi" wrong.... Must have been a bugger to find... [Image: smile.gif] I have tried 8-10 different transcoders, and Vidomi is my favorite, with DVDx(harder to get working) coming in second....

What do you mean by "suite" and "multiple computers"?

Yes, it wasn't the easiest task to find the encoder! :-)

I'm actually asking if know of any other software that honors network computing. Having multiple computers encoding the same job-list is very efficient in my opinion.

No, I don't know of any other. After trying so many different encoders, Vidomi was so much better that I stopped looking as hard... Which others did you try?
