jam_zhou Wrote:How does MovieWiz handle ISO files? When I rip a DVD, it goes into it's own folder and the only two files in there are the ISO files and the MDS files. Does it traverse the hierarchy then I have to select the video.ts file like in My Videos?

It would be great if MovieWiz could see that there was only one playable file in there and then automaically play it when the directory is selected. It makes navigating more intuititive for the uninitiated.

I still haven't upgraded yet...once I find time to take the plunge from v. 99 it'll be a big plunge!!
MovieWiz will natively play an .iso file. Actually GBPVR (or your favorite viewer such as VLC, MediaPlayer,...) plays the file. It should handle .mpg, .mpeg. mp4, .avi, and basically any other video format and container you have installed the appropriate codecs for.

MovieWiz has a database that tracks your movie files. In the config program, you specify what directories your file(s) reside in and MovieWiz will scan and load entries into it's database. On load it will attempt to lookup information on the internet related to the entry (ie Actors, Director, Plot,...) as well as a thumbnail image of the show.

Make sure you add .iso as a valid extension in the config. When you "Locate" and "Load" in the config app, your .iso files will be loaded into the DB, with the title being the filename portion of the .iso file.

At this point no, but it is on my list of things to do.

Is there an app that rips from DVD directly to AVI or MPG? I use RipIt4Me/DVD Decrypter to rip, and then AutoGK to convert to AVI.

I actually have never tried to rip from a DVD. You might get more responses if this was posted in the Plugin & Skin support general forum though.

An external player like VLC (Videolan) handles quite well ripped DVD's copied onto a hard drive. e.g. VLC -f "DVD movie directory"

Unfortunately MW doesn't seem to handle directories as the source of a movie. Perhaps this could change? Perhaps the directory name could end with the extension ".dvd" to explicitly identify a DVD directory?

I've been struggling on how to incorporate ripped DVD's into MovieWiz, this seems like a possible approach, thanks for the idea, I'll see what I can do.

Loving the plugin and recently upgraded to the latest version. One thing I've noticed though is that sometimes when I select MovieWiz from the GB-PVR main menu it doesn't go into the app - instead seems to freeze halfway through the select animation (hard to explain but the bright white text gets dimmer, then sticks there). To unfreeze this I have to press back on the remote and then select it again, whereupon it usually works.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with having quite a lot of files in the database now (over 300) and that sometimes these are on a shared drive which isn't plugged in, hence moviewiz is getting overloaded trying to find them all?

Possibly that is it. If the thumbnail of the first movie to show is on a drive that is turned off, I believe moviewiz may lockup until the request times-out. You may be able to solve that problem by storing the images IN the database. The side effect is that the db gets much larger.

Handbrake would be a good option for this.
