very cool! thanks so much. the output looks good. i'll have to rename the episode.xml and series.xml filenames, cuz yapi2xml grabs them with '&' rather than simply the ampersand. no big deal, i had to do it for Married ... With Children as the output from the enhancer was just Married With Children, i believe.
thanks again!

i think its more of an "issue" with yapi2xml. as you probably know, it outputs "Law & Order" as "Law & Order". the enhancer outputs it as "Law & Order". i guess you could have it auto rename the episodes.xml and series.xml to "Law & Order", but a bigger issues comes up with the spinoff programs. yapi2xml outputs them as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (note the colons in the names). episodes.xml and series.xml from the enhancer cannot be modified to match, as ":" is not allowed in a filename. what i'm gonna try to do is run a script to automatically open the yapixml.xml file and edit it to match the output from the enhancer.
thanks again

I suggest you don't run a script. the enhancer is already doing the work. Just have to be clear what you want. All the NA XMLTV use the & syntax. GB-PVR reads that fine and displays it correctly in the guide.

But since it's not necessary to follow the & for title and subitle, I don't bother outputting that. But really it shouldbe concerning you, only GB-PVR shouold be reading the output xmltv file.

So when THe enhancer reads Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, it creates a filename, "Law & Order Special Victims Unit.episodes.xml and .series.xml.

That uses the same convention as GB-PVR when it creates a recording or a directory. It removes : (and other special characters) and converts the & to a '&'.

The elipsis, '...' is a special case which I will be working to fix...

I don't see where you are getting strange filenames....what part of the process are you getting a strange Filename?

yeah, scripting's not going well anyway!. basically ive been running a batch file to update the epg. the batch calls for yapi2xml to run, then invokes ultraxml to the resulting file, then the batch empties and updates the gbpvr epg.
the problem occurs with what appears to be any show with that yapi2xml sees as having an ampersand or colon in the title. after fetching, ultraxml creates episodes and series files named 'law & order', 'law & order criminal intent', 'csi miami'. 'csi crime scene investigation' etc (dropping the ":"s). inside the yapixml.xml file, the show titles are listed as 'law & order', 'law & order: criminal intent' , csi: crime scene investigation', etc.
i'm guessing that since the show names inside yapixml.xml don't match any of the episodes/series filenames from ultraxml, the enhancer (or gbpvr - unsure which actually adds the season/episode info) just skips applying the season and episode numbers to just those shows.
if any of that doesnt make sense, please lemme know.
thanks

forgot to add...i'm not getting strange characters per se. what i thought i could do (and i was wrong) was rename the resulting series/epsodes.xml files from the enhancer. ie: rename 'law & order criminal intent.episodes.xml' to 'law & order: criminal intent.episodes.xml' in order to match the series value given by yapi2xml. but you can't have the colon in a filename. i also see than it's the enhancer that adds series/episode info to yapixml.xml - i should have realized that Smile

I did find though that my last fix was only half way. I decided to record Law & Order, and wasn't able to get season and episode info. So I dug, and found out why.

Hang tight for a patch.

thanks so much! that was quick Smile with the exception of law & order spinoffs, it doesnt seem to apply info for at least some shows with ":" in the title. dont know why it would work for "law & order: criminal intent" but not "csi :crime scene investigation" (or spinoffs). maybe it something i'm doing wrong, so i'll keep checking from my side.
thanks again

forgot to mention it is actually getting series/episode info for csi (and spinoffs) & homicide: life on the street - and creating the respective files with the info inside. its just not applying it. still checking to make sure its not something i'm doin wrong
