Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure.

Once the VNC side is done, we could look at bolting on the current HTTP interface for streaming files, rather than the MVP style.

That was what I was going to suggest too, (except I am doing normal VNC first and then I have to incorporate the Hauppauge extensions that GBPVR uses). After http is working, I think a shared smb:// or nfs:// strategy would be best to allow allow better navigation.

jksmurf, welcome to the club. My gut says commskip is a way off. I don't see being able to support any external mpeg trick modes while I use Syabas' 3! video and audio players. This might be something Syabas could implement too. There is already a just adequate progress bar with the info button.

Yeah, thats pretty much my thoughts.

If we make some decent progress, I'm sure syabas could be talked into adding support for it.

Thanks, it's a nice device. Really easy to set up and sub's PCH Controller and Server worked "out of the box". Not sure how to hide those DOS screens without an external utility, but I'll work on it. If you can do comskip etc (actually everything the MVP can doSmile) I'd be chuffed, but I know it's going to be a long process, so if you need a tester I'm happy to give it a go for you.

btw this similar gizmo (ISTARHD) looks OK too. External SATA, HDMI 1.3 and Optical Out.

If sounds nice but I think the external hard disk will be a pain for running user apps, you will have to build your own case, it's not the same as an eSATA external drive.

Hmm...my kids were the first to try watching a recording on the PCH and it didn't go too well. When we tried fast forwarding through a commercial, the video sped up (as expected) then when we hit play to resume it skipped back 30 seconds or so from where it was originally. I've spent all of 10 minutes playing with the box, so I guess I should take some time with it before turning it over to the family. Smile

There are a few SATA external cases at Newegg, though the choice is not great. And the pictures show a SATA to eSATA adapter cable (also referred to in the Specifications), so it appears that the eSATA cases will work too.

But that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that there are no component video outputs, apparently only composite and HDMI. I guess that saves them the cost of some D/A converters. But will GB-PVR work with it? I like the fact that it is compact.

If you open a separate thread on the istarhd I will tell you some of my thoughts. I don't know if sub is supporting it.

Hi Martin,

I'm following your posts at http://www.networkedmediatank.com/ and was wondering if you think you're making good progress. Are you still confident you're going to get mvpmc ported? Could you give some insite on the status of your project? I'm just very curious, I'm not trying to push you in any way (as if you'd care if I was Big Grin).

Thanks,
Chris
