Hi,

Seems a major feature is missing in GB-PVR!

CI Support - Conditional Access.

DVB-S Cards with CAM Support are quite common now and GB-PVR seems to be behind.

I know the commercial version of GB-PVR, Wellton Way supports CI Support well.

When will GB-PVR catchup?

Cheers

I think you'll have to look into Multidec - GBPVR supports that.
I'm not always right
GB-PVR 1.2.9
Accent HT-400 Case, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1024MB, 1TB+300GB+180GB, WinXP Pro-SP2, NVidia 7600GT
Nova-T USB2, PVR-350 recording from Dilog 355 DVB-T box, USB-UIRT (receiving & transmitting)

Hmmm, this Multidec is a real pain in the b.. to setup. Because it's my hobby I don't mind trying it out, but for someone else it could be very disappointing. So I have to agree with solomonsok on this one. But it's been asked for many times. Maybe Sub can give his thoughts on this issue: is it ever going to be possible in GBPVR, or will he never implement it? If it's the last, I'd have peace with it (not that that's important). At least we would know it's never going to happen.
When it was asked for before, I believe encrypted DVB wasn't available to Sub. But now it is, since he's using multidec on DVB-C himself. So maybe that's the litle push it needs.
I understand that it's a lot of work to implement, since you have to code it for every DVB-card. But maybe it's an idea to support it for just some cards, like other PVR programs do. I would definitely buy a new card, if I knew it was supported to use with a CI by GBPVR. Or could it be possible make an API for it, so people could code it like we can with the plugins?
How do other GBPVR users feel about this missing feature?

For now your only option is to use multidec plugins. Thats what I personally use to record my DVB-C channels. Its 100% reliable for me.

GB-PVR may get CI support in the future, but couldnt tell you it definitely will, and I couldnt tell you when, and I couldnt guess what CI devices it might support.

I'm very happy, because after many hours of trial and error I finally managed to get multidec working for my DVB-C provider in the Netherlands (Multikabel). I'll post my config on this forum in another thread sometime soon. But maybe Sub is interested in the fact that I'm using the Acamd plugin, which is being developed by appiemulder (his forum name) in the Netherlands. For this plugin you don't need a newcs server or any other server, which makes it easier to setup.

It does, Irdeto2 is what most Dutch cable companies (including mine) use on their network. I'll post some more info soon, but first I have to get my setup organised, because it can get messy with all this trial and error Smile

Hi,

Seems someone got GB-PVR working with Irdeto on the FloppyDTV.
Is that with the CAM in the FloppyDTV?

If yes... HOW????? What module and what do I do???

Excited?

Look forward... Big Grin

Cheers

Sheik Yerbouti was using multidec plugins like I suggested above (with external phoenix smartcard reader), not using a CAM module in the FloppyDTV.
