I want to, at 1 am or something, transcode the day's recordings (comskipped already too) into xvid. I THINK i have a handle on that since there are many good posts, but something nice an easy to spell it out would be good Smile .

The real purpose of the post is to figure out if there's a way for the transcoded file to show up in recordings and show all the show info and pictures. That's my main question. Maybe there's a plugin to do this already. Movie wizard comes to mind, but I'd like to not use that because I use that for my archived movies. I would like something separate for recordings.

thanks

The transcoding setting in config ("warning, experimental" ...that part), should transcode all new recordings every day. As for the show info and pictures, dunno, but if no one gives a definite answer, give 'er a try.

I don't transcode much but was just thinking about this earlier today when I saw someone's article about Windows Media Center transcoding his daily recordings and then syncing them to his Zune. The syncing part wouldn't be automatic, (but probably could be with minor effort), but it was amusing to know GBPVR could already do the transcode everything daily part.

Have I mentioned Zunes are awesome for TV? Zunes are awesome for TV.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

I just realized that on that same screen there's a checkbox that says to update database to point to converted file. Nice. Wonder if that will keep all the info though...anyone know for sure?

Yes. It will keep the information so long as you keep the new file in the same location the original mpg. Once you mkove it, GB-PVR will see it missing and immeditately delete the database record
