I've been using gbpvr for a day or two...coming from DigiTV, and here are my thoughts on how I'd like navigation (keyboard or remote) to work.
1) DVD playback needs a dedicated Menu button that only ever takes you back to the DVD's menu. The current functionality uses ESC to first take you to the DVD menu, and a further press drops you back to gbpvr - this is no good for tools like anydvd where you often press the menu button many times in succession to quickly skip annoying adverts/trailers etc.
2) When watching TV, pressing F1 brings up the miniguide, and you can then use ESC to exit from it. But if you being up info (Ctrl+b), pressing ESC quits the TV module, rather than hiding the info.
3) ESC doesn't always take you back up levels if you've configured submenus for the plugins (this could always be a bug with my setup).
4) When you press Enter for further details in the TV Guide, I believe Watch should be the first highlighted option.
My preferred solution for 1) and 2) would be for two separate buttons to control this - Menu and Exit (the former probably some variation on the current "Home" functionality, the latter ESC).
When playing a DVD, pressing Menu only ever takes you to the DVD's menu. Pressing Exit returns to gbpvr. Similarly, when watching TV, Menu should be used to return to gbpvr, with Exit being used to hide popups etc. For any other video types, either button could be used to return to gbpvr.
Feel free to disagree...I'd be interested to know why the current system was chosen.
