I'm just getting back into GB-PVR after a year lay off whilst renovating the house....

I've had a browse around the forums but can't find an answer so...

is it possible to have a client running with a local capture card just for viewing live tv but still use the server for all recordings. The client would have some local storage for buffering live tv but I would want any scheduled recordings to be carried out by the server.

hope that makes sense....thanks for any advice

I have an old USB tuner in a client, but use DVBdream to watch it for testing purposes.

if you want to shedule recordings on the server from your client, your only option is more of a hack:
- configure your client for a standalone installation, add the server recordings dir as a video lib dir, create a custom task to "switch the config to config.xml.client & restart GBPVR/PVRX2", backup your config.xml to config.xml.local
- configure your client as a real client, create a custom task to "switch the config to config.xml.local & restart GBPVR/PVRX2", backup your config as a config.xml.client

i setup my two as independant clients, of course map eachother's libraries, and i put cmds in postprocessing.bat to send info to other machine automatically..Big Grin
that way both machines have all recordings in native recordings screen immediately..
[also allows change of source path to net path..]

You could also skip the client thing and setup your client as a regular GBPVR system, then use the web interface to schedule shows on the "server". You can then just point your recording directory at the server. You should even be able to watch in process recordings coming from the server if I am thinking clearly today.

Can UBU stream be used with the EWA to stream HD channels to a client?
