Okay I know this is a weird/silly question and I'm not sure even where to post it, but I thought I'd just give it a shot on the off chance.

Background: I've got GBpvr installed on my main PC, on a XP partition, so that I can mess around with the skinning elements. I don't have a capture card in this PC so I just select any old capture device and point it to my listings xml, this then lets me see the layout of the TV guide page with listings included.

The Problem: I had a bit of a IT related melt down yesterday and because I'm right in the middle of finalizing a theme for the Community Skin I've tried to move everything over to my main Vista partition. Unfortunately I can't get GBpver to display the TV guide page. If I try to open the TV guide in PVRX2 the program hangs and if I try it in GBpvr.exe I get the "No channels have been setup" message. I've tried every different capture source combination in the config, but no joy.

My question: Does anyone have any ideas how I could , kind of, trick GB into thinking that I have set up a capture source? I downloaded SQLiteSpy and tried to have a look at my gbpvr.db3 file , predictable thought I had no clue what I was looking at :o. I've tried copying over a gbpvr.db3 and config.xml backup from the XP partition, but again no joy.

I fully understand if this is just too left field but I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Cheers

You should be able to tell you have any old device, then hit the 'Update EPG' button to pull in the listings, then you should be good to go. It should allow you to view the TV Guide. Obviously scheduling a recording isnt going to work well.

If its not working, zip and attach the PVRX2.exe.log and I'll take a look.

Cheers sub,

After further messing around it appears that the settings in the config app aren't filtering down. After I installed the community skin everything was fine, but when I restarted PVRX2 it returned to the blue skin and hung on opening the TV guide. So that led me to check to see if alterations in the config app were appearing in the config.xml and they weren't.

If I manually alter them I can select the community3 skin and add the skin plugin but the TV guide behaviour remains. Could it be something to do with weird Vista permissions I may have inadvertently for the config app? I'm logged in as administrator and have tried a few different computability settings for the app.

I've attached the logs for:

Open config app change skin to blue - load PVRX2 - close PVRX2
Open config app change skin to community3 - Load PVRX2 - close PVRX2

Really appreciate this sub

Yeah, its probably vista getting in the way.

Delete the "c:\users\<user account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory then try again.

If its not already prompting you to do so, run the config app as administrator when you run it.

Spot on sub, thanks a million.

:o I'm a little embarrassed now, the second I read your suggestion I remembered reading similar advice for previous Vista quirkiness.

Thanks again sub
