[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (normanr @ Feb. 20 2005,14:58)]Now has support for searching in episode descriptions as well by length of programm. Also shows program's start and end time and you can now click on programs that are scheduled to be recorded. Scheduled programs appear with red background once more.

normanr....just scheduled a bunch of shows via the enhanced search. I ended up with one set to record the season by accident. It appeard at the top of the Manage Recordings with a start and end time of 12:00 a.m. I don't know if this is normal or not since I only schedule shows one at a time.

When I clicked on the button to cancel this item all scheduled recordings cancled not just the first one. I am sure this is not supposed to happen. [Image: sad.gif]

latest web & search (build 8):

UncleJohnsBand: new recording quality choice in the popup & you get to choose season recordings, etc.

mroy: from the popup you can auto-search for other episodes of this program (all episodes, or just this episode)

hopefully the popup doesn't look too cluttered :-)

UncleJohnsBand: forgot the mention that in build 8 I fixed the season recordings showing with the start and end times being 2001/01/01 12:00:00, and yes - if you cancel the season recording, then all the shows disappear. This happens to be the way the backend works.

UncleJohnsBand -- thanks for the suggestions.

normanr -- I don't think the popup is cluttered, I think it's a good improvement. One suggestion, however, would be to include the alternative recording times in the popup, using a radio button to select which recording time they want; their initial choice already checked.

mroy: to get the alternate recording times is difficult because there's no way to link up unique shows. This really only is possible when the show has a subtitle. Maybe we need to get sub to change the xmltv and bleg grabbers to stick something in the unique_identifier field, then rely on the upstream information to figure out which shows are unique.

What if we just checked to see if they were a zap2it subscriber, and enable/disable more advanced functionality based on the result. I remember sub saying something about xmltv not uniquely identifying shows in another topic, so I think we'd just be doing this for zap2it users until xmltv brings that option to the table. Doing that would make it a snap to add a show type drop down to the search form, and just keep that from being displayed if they're not a zap2it subscriber.

Something everyone could benefit from, that would be an easy addition, would be to let users sort the results by name in addition to the default, which is to sort it by the start time.

yea, we could allow searching by unique_identifier if it exists.

possibly we could get sub to import the (dtd 0.5 invalid, but coming in dtd 0.6) 'id' property off the program element. Then I can certainly add support for it to xmltv and my grabbers (or maybe just wait till xmltv dtd 0.6).

I saw the id property when I looked at the DTD earlier today, but didn't know if it was an id for that instance of the program (that specific show at that time, on that station), or if it uniquely identifies a show, like the zap2it id field does. Hopefully it's the latter.

the current version of the dtd (0.5) only allows an id field for channels, not individual programs. The working version of the dtd (0.6) now supports program id's

Only about 2% of XMLTV grabbers support this, and it doesnt look like the number is growing. Its certainly not something thats widespread or can be relied on.
