Hi all,

I have recently switched to AT&T UVerse for programming and their Motorola set top box (STB) has a "feature" that it will eventually go into a standby mode I assume for low-power.

When the STB is in this standby mode, it will display on the screen "press OK". No other STB functions work unless OK is pressed.

I am able to control the STB through PVRX2. But when I have it set to record a program, the OK prompt is not cleared and the recording is nothing but this prompt.

Is there anyway to get PVRX2 to send the OK before it sends the channel change command to the remote?

Thanks for your help!

Mike

I did not yet try there. I did try the uverseusers.com website where I have received a lot of useful information. The response that I got there was that I needed my HTPC software to send the OK command before the channel change command.

What are you using to send the commands? Hauppage, USBUIRT?

I'm using haupblast.exe that came with GBPVR. That's the Hauppage controller, IIRC.

mrayle,

I don't have a suggestion for your problem, but I've been thinking about jumping to UVerse (from DirecTV) too.

Can I ask your opinion on it? How is the image quality and sound? Any trouble with lag or dropped frames from internet use at the same time? Have you tried their DVR in addition to their STB?

DishNetwork users ran into the same problem. You might see if the solution for us is an option for you too:

Rats... I had a long reply but took too long to post it and got timed out.

Basically, I like the UVerse system. I have had no problems with watching TV and heavy internet use at the same time. I do not have HD. There are some who say they don't like the amount of compression that UVerse uses on HD.

Things I particularly like about UVerse:
1. Fast channel change. I can surf with ch- and ch+ easily with no new channel frustration.
2. Lower cost then comparable cable setup
3. Ability to record up to 4 streams simultaneously.
4. Ability to program DVR via web anywhere
5. New features coming soon: >1 HD stream, ability to access network shares for photos, music, and video. When that happens, I might not need my MVP anymore.

Things I particularly don't like about UVerse:
1. The non-DVR STBs switch to a standby mode where you have to press "ok" to get video after some long time. This is causing the problem I mention in the OP.
2. No "Local on the 8s" on Weather Channel. I guess that satellite users are used to this, but I am not.

There's LOTS of info on the http://www.uverseusers.com website. That's where I went for my research.

Hope this helps!

I've just switched to Uverse from Comcast basic (no box). So that means I need to update my PVR 500. I'm looking at the HD PVR, but I don't want to purchase it only to have it not work because PVRX2 can't 'wake' the box up to change the channel. Is there a way to get the HaupBlast or similar IR program to send an 'OK' command immediately before the recording begins or am I going to have to manually set an event to run from girder or other software that wakes the box up at set intervals throughout the day?
