I just upgraded my cable service today from analog to basic digital through Comcast. I am using a Hauppauge 1600 tuner. I am using PVRX2 and yapi2xml to get my EPG. After upgrading to the digital signal, I no longer get any EPG. I have re-acquired the Comcast digital channels in the config module (capture sources/edit recording source/update EPG). I then ran update EPG in PVRX2. Now what I get in TV Guide is channels 1-98 with message "no show details." I can watch these channels but I get no information for them and cannot schedule recordings. Then I also have additional channels 99-952 that lists show information. This information seems to be the show information that should correspond to channels 1-98 (with some extra channels for the expanded digital lineup). None of the channels with show information actually work when I try to watch TV directly or record from them. Only channels 1-98 with no show information work. Of course, I cannot schedule recordings for channels 1-98, but I am able to watch TV on them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

P.S. I have seen where people wanted to view the file config-exe-native.log for various issues, so I have attached it here in case it is needed to help diagnose my problem.

Does your xmltv file produced by yapi2xml have listings for these missing files?

And here's the config.exe log file in case someone needs that too.

I'm not sure how to verify this. While running PVRX2 I can find what appears to be the yapi2xml listings but they are shifted up in number and the channels just come in with static. I will attach the yapi2xml log, if that helps.

I'm not able to compress the file enough to upload. It is a huge file at 24.1 Mb and will only compress to 1.9 Mb. I did manage to open it up partially in Word. I killed Word before it opened completely. It had only reached channel 31 by about page number 3500 and was still loading the file. This is about 1/4 of my channels with the basic cable lineup. Does this sound right?

Is there another way to get this file to you...or perhaps the part of it that would be useful?

Edit: I was able to snip part of the xml file and save it as a Word doc. Here it is zipped. I hope this is enough to help you see what you need to.

If you go to the 'channels' tab of the config app and scroll right to the bottom, are your missing low number channels listed there? I'm guessing that when you changed EPG the channel names changed subtly so it thinks they're not the same channels as those currently occupying the low channel numbers, so it added them as new channels at the end of the EPG.

Regardless, your easiest fix is to do the 'export recordings', then backup your recordings-dump.xml, then rename you gbpvr.db3 file to gbpvr.db3.old, then start the config app and recreate you capture sources, do the 'update epg', then Import recordings and select your recordings-dump.xml.

That seems to have done the trick...for the most part. I now have my channels back up for 1-98. One thing is till not working properly though. None of the channels above 98 are working. Perhaps this may be an issue with my TV Tuner (Hauppauge 1600) or the digital cable rather than GBPVR.

The TV Guide displays the correct program info for all of my subscribed channels, but when I try to watch any channel above 98, PVRX2 shows me only the previously watched channel below 98. For example, if I was previously watching CNN on channel 38, that's what shows up when I try to watch channel 149, 245, 249, etc. or even listen to one of the digital music channels.

Thank you very much for at least helping me to get the bulk of my programming back up. Now I can try to fine tune the rest, if possible.

Your analog tuner can only tune analog channels. If for example you ask it to tune to channel 149, the tuner will just stay on the channel it is current tuned to because this is an invalid analog channel number (1-125).

If you want to watch/record all these digital channels, then you need to connect your digital cable set top box to the svideo/composite inputs on your HVR1600, then use an ir blaster to tell the set top box to change channels when required.
