Figured it out. I turned off windows prefetch (except for booting). I also deleted every reference to the enhancer (except for the downloaded zips) and emptied recycle bin. My setup, at least, makes a copy of the enhancer in Documents and Settings. I've had to do this all before with a previous release of the enhancer that I had problems with, but I thought the problem was in the prefetch file. Apparently it's notSmile Simply removing the enhancer's registry setting is not enough either (at least for me). Just ran it through "get all" and with that long list for "epfetchinclude" and it ran through completely and correctly.
The problem must be in that 'Documents and Settings' reference and/or folders containing previous versions of the enhancer. Maybe I'll make a script for myself to delete at least the 'Documents and Settings' reference before running new versions of the enhancer.

Weird...

thanks for the help

I suspected the prefetch-whatever, as you were the first person I knew that had ever considered it an important area of interest. Basically I've never known to look in the prefetch folder, as everything has always worked with just the defaults. Kinda like too much tweaking causes more trouble than it's worth...

I don't know what you mean by 'copying into Documents and Settings'. That is supposed to only happen with Vista...

And although you system isn't actually running in the default way, just the mere existence of different versions of enhancer on your harddrive should not be causing trouble. They have to be executed to cause trouble. Just like viruses (virii ?) are inert if they just sit, unexecuted on your harddrive...

Any way, glad you found out the problem. It's now something I can suggest to people (Have you played with the prefetch settings?)

Any way here are some stats. The first time I ran the get all on 29000 records, it found 2540 unique shows, ranging from Paid Programming to News, to Prime Time, to Discovery Channel vignettes...

It grabbed ~8500 files from the Internet which totalled 45 Mb of disc space.

The first time took 45 minutes. Many many shows were marked as 'No data available', and 'don't fetch' and so the next time, it shouldn't have to get a lot of stuff a second time...

I kept tweaking and tweaking so that I wasn't downloading stuff more often than required, and now it does 29000 records in 7 minutes flat....(give or take an hour)

Seriously, I think I'm gonna eat my words. Adding an extra 10 minutes to an operation that happens when I'm supposed to be asleep anyway, is not bad considering most every show I might be interested in has ep info now...

Wow... How far back does your dusty shelf go? I take a week off from your thread and return to find you've implemented the get info for all feature. I had begun building my own fetch list to find it was already obsolete.

At least your words weren't too dusty to choke down. Seriously, I think you'll see greater usage of UltraXMLTV just because of the get info for all feature. It's not just another EPG enhancer. It's the EPG enhancer with perfectly formated season/episode information for all shows.

You rock, man!

Gary

P.S. My wife even remarked how she liked the new season/episode info.

Although, I was side tracked with mapping satellite channels http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=33362 I've returned with my totally unofficial release of the UltraXMLTV Manager...

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...LTVManager

I've been overly melodramatic about how dangerous the program can be, but what the heck - I don't want anyone to play with features that haven't been developed or documented yet...

So be scared. Be very Scared!

I've released it so that others can try the new Satellite Channel Mapping feature, but also so anyone can try out the wizard and send me samples of the log it generates...

Have fun... And play safe...

Hey Zehd,

I just finished trying out your XMLTVManager. First I tried the wizard and I got a "runtime error 9", so then I tried out the Sat Map option.

I clicked on the multiple source check box and put it through its paces (seemed to be missing the just channel anmes or channel number and names option). I started with a fresh GBPVR.DB3 file and it mapped all the channels in the scan-1 and scan-2 files without any hitches. Then I went into the config and looked at each source to see if the channels where there or not; and they were.

I noticed that all of the channels were enabled even the ones that had no tunning request info for them. So when I started PVRX2 and went into the EPG and clicked on a channel, it just dumped me back into the EPG. Anyway long story short, I determined that you have to go into the config and click on "map digital channels to EPG channles". Once you are in that screen and click on "OK"... until you get out of the config, then start PVRX2 again and vthen the channels worked fine.

Great start, keep up the good work!

Thanks

Well that's not what I was able to do... Remember I don't have a sat so I only guessed.

First I took your db3 that had the two sat capture sources. Then, as you are set to use Schedules Direct, I simply changed the EPG source for both capture sources to use XMLTV and pointed both sources to a pre donwloaded file. (None of changing the EPG sources should have made a difference..

OK I loaded Manager, clicked Sat Map, Clicked Update EPG, it ran through it's paces. Then I click, Map Channels. And I'm done.

I don't do anything else. The version that's up on the wiki, only enabled channels that there are frequencies for (I fixed that before I uploaded.)

I didn't mention to click anything else, (including Multi Config) Please ignore everything you see. Only do the two steps...

You should not have had to click Map digital. Except if you started with a fresh db3, maybe you have to tell GB-PVR to use the scan.cache files.

I know that this is as far as I can take it. I know that it works.

I'll bet you had different results because you started with a fresh db3.

That means, your steps should be

In GB-PVR config
* start with fresh db3,
* add capture sources
* setup EPG, (SD, XMLTV etc...)
** Don't bother Updating EPG Until all capture sources are added
* update EPG
* Edit each Capture source now that you have Channels and click 'Map Digital Channels' This will create separate scan.cache files for each Capture Source
* Close Config

With the Manager
* Update EPG AGAIN! from within the Manager...(nowhere else for this step)
* Map Sat....

In the Manager, you do not need to select individual Capture Sources (that feature isn't working now anyway..) If all the capture sources have had EPGs updated and Digital Channels Mapped, then you're good to go.

It should be noted that you need to update the EPG twice. Once at the end of creating your Capture Sources and once at the beginning of using the Manager to Map Sat channels....

If you are adding mulitple capture sources, add them all at the same time. You don't have to update the EPG for each capture source, just when you've finished adding the last one... You will need to go back for each source and click Map Digital Channels though.

If you're wanting to help with testing the Manager's Wizard, and you immediately get a err 9. then there won't be much of a wizard log to send. But you can send me your UpdateEPG, and PostUpdateEPG.bats and tell me where your EPG software is located. And whether you use an UpdateEPG (Native operation in GB-PVR) to start an Update or the Task Manager... And if there is anything for a wizard log, send that too please,...

Gotta say that I've had the UltraXMLTV Enhancer grabbing all Season/Episode info it can for all shows, for the last week or so, and it's really been very good. The logs are saying the enhancement is taking about 10 minutes. The EPG download takes about 3 minutes, and so the whole thing takes under 15.

I think this latest build is a keeper...

Hi, just started using this and have a problem importing into GB-PVR. I think it is because I use the UK Alan Birtles Radio Times grabber, the XMLTV header has changed (I get a generator-name error is the enhancer program as well). Unfortunately the version number is kept in this header so it changes often. It is currently:

<tv date="20080222" generator-name="XMLTV GUI V. 3.09.03W" generator-url="http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv">[/SIZE]

Thanks

I had to check. Right you are. I actually stop checking specifically for birtles because of some difference. But You can still use the Enhancer. Really the only thing that it was doing was when it sees 'birtle' it auto adjusted the NewShow Detection. So you can either choose one of the techniques for new show, or leave it as do nothing.

Other than that, it should import just fine...

If you're still having trouble, send me the the original file and I will check it...

Edit: ooops, reread your post and realize that I will have to look at your file for sure.

Edit 2: I had a sample from before and other than the date, there's no difference with the header in the sample. I was able to enhance the file and import it straight into GB-PVR... Took a long time though (with Get all Ep Info enabled) as there were a lot of shows that I had not previously downloaded data for...
