As discussed in the end of this thread it would be great if we could record based on this information rather then "time slot each day/week" etc.

Don't know if it is possible but a similar feature in the BSkyB PVR take such an application from 6 to 10 stars out of ten Wink

Great application, can't believe its one man's work.

If someone can point me to the spec which defines how the UK Freeview system broadcasts this information, then I'll look into it.

You need The DTG 'D-Book' but you have to register as an industry member to get it.

Did I forget to mention the D Book in the other thread? Smile I got that far and figured it was a bit out of my league too.

From past experience guessing how these things work is more hassle than its worth. So we'll just have to wait for some kind soul who works in the industry (and has it at work) to send a copy my way... Big Grin

I mentioned in the other thread that the Channel 4 'family' of stations did something vaguely recognisable but only just. I eventually did find some consistencies in the BBC descriptors but it was all still pretty cryptic - nothing obvious even at a binary level.

Its usually the exceptions that are the hard things to work out - like what sort of information they use if the episode information is unknown at the time of broadcast etc.

Cheers sub, can't really survive without series link... looks like I will have to go the off-the-shelf PVR way... <sulk> ... its on the MythTV wish list as well Sad

Pity bgowland's reverse engineering isn't enough. I shall lurk and hope you get the info you need. Even recording based on series ID would be very cool.

Would such a thin be possible to program as a plug-in. Haven't really the time but might be able to throw something together, even to prove the reverse engineering?

Pity I no longer work in the industry as I'm sure a table or two could find its way to you Wink

Anyway a splendid peace of kit, for me to use while sitting in my office pretending to work Smile
