Hi all,

I don't watch much TV, but I watch enough that now my TV has decided to have no audio, I thought a cheap TV tuner for the PC would be worth getting. Seeing a £10 device at Amazon with good reviews, I grabbed it. It works, and comes with software that's okay but it's far from great, so I went looking for a replacement. GB-PVR looks awesome, but I can't set it up.

The hardware is as generic as they come! The actual product is this :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-DVB-T-Do...817&sr=8-1

There's no brand name. That packaging just has 'Taiwan Technology' on the bottom. The USB driver is supplied by 'Silicon Vendor'.

I tried a good number of the available devices in the GB-PVR Tuning-Assistant list but none worked. Are there any generic solutions that'll work for me?

Thanks.

Assuming it BDA drivers, then it should be usable with GB-PVR to receive DVB-T channels.

Did you try setting up a BDA capture source, and selecting ticking the 'only show cards detected in this machine' checkbox?

It says it finds no hardware and defaults to 'MCE DVBSbridge'. Upon scanning for channels it says it finds no hardware.

Run filtercheck.exe located in the program files\devnz\gbpvr folder and post the resulting filtercheck.log

Thanks for your help. I'm not able to find this file. I have no 'files' folder in the GBPVR folder, and a Windows file search doesn't find 'filtercheck.exe' on my computer. I couldn't find a 'files' repository at the GB-PVR website either. I'm probably missing something obvious!

Its installed with the release and should be "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\filtercheck.exe". If you're sure you dont have it, then try reinstalling.

Open the file "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\bda.ini" in notepad and add the following entry:
Code:
[Easy TV DVB-T]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=USB DVB-T TV Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=USB DVB-T TV Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
Your tuner should then be detected in Config.

Thanks! Big Grin that's got it found. No joy with a picture though but I don't think that's a problem with GB-PVR; the device is being funny. It was getting a signal fine on the included software, and then the strength dropped to 28% when the connection is through the home ariel and its driving the downstairs box just fine. Something's probably up with the tuner. Sad
