Noobie here, so please excuse the obvious questions :o

- I have been unsuccessfully trying to create Capture Sources for the Analog and QAM tuners on the HVR-1600. Can some kind soul provide clear instructions
- Add to this the issue with my Comcast cable feed. When using WinTV to tune the Clear QAM channels, I cannot tune any channels when scanning "Channels by Country". I have only been able to tune the Clear QAM channels using the "All Frequencies" options (This is my fourth Hauppage card - I was also unsuccessful in tuning Clear QAM on an AverMedia m780). How would I go about adding/scanning for available Clear QAM channels on GBPVR?

Thanks.

Make sure you try the different qam.ini files to get the maximum channels. One way to check is let WinTV autodetect the channels so then when you are doing your channel setup in GBPVR config you can compare that it will find at least the same amount of channels (if not more.)

Don't expect too much, I just got all the local access stuff and that's it. Pretty lame, I would have expected things like TNT and USA but no such luck.

Here is the QAM files: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...tcount=118

In that same thread there is lots of other information.

Gazoo,

Which qam.ini should I be replacing with the downloaded ones?
I am seeing qam.ini files in:
  • C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA\Atsc
  • C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA\Atsc\Hvr1600

Also, if I have the frequencies my QAM channels are coming in on, can I edit any file(s) with this information? This information is from WinTV after I scanned using the "All Frequencies" options

I'm learning with each post I read about the 1600! Due to a hard drive problem I've had to start over but WinTV seems to pick up most of the local stations in my area. Just for fun I let Vista MC set up the channels and it found more but only 3 were strong enough to work. How can the same antenna connected to the same tuner be so different?
Anyway, so far, I'm having little luck in GBPVR. Before the HD problem, I finally got it working but now only the analog seems to work.
OK, here's the dumb question of the day. What tuner should I choose for the 1600? The QAM or ATSC? Neither seems to work when the the ATSC did previously. Lots of learning all around for me on this OTA stuff but I'm loving it.

Chose the QAM option if you're trying receive digital cable channels, chose the ATSC option if you're trying to receive over the air channels via an antenna.

Do an ATSC scan then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Thanks sub. That's what I understood to be the case. You've spent quite a lot of time with me this weekend before the hard drive crash and I'm going to try to do this without bothering you for a bit. If after awhile I'm still not having any luck, I'll bother you but for now, you're time in more useful elsewhere I'm sure. I do hope all these questions about setting the 1600 up will be helpful in the end as it appears more and more of us are getting this card.
Cheers.

OK sub, I'm crying 'Uncle' now as I have tried 14 times to get this to work. I even reinstalled from scratch and can't get anywhere with ATSC. FWIW, I have no problems in WinTV and most of the channels in Windows MC. Hope you don't mind the screen shots but I wanted to show how I have it set up (and what worked before the HD crash). The initializing screen doesn't budge and I've waited as long as 30 minutes. I need to taks out to close it.
Logs are also enclosed.
Thanks much.

Try deleting any *.cache files in the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\bda directory.

Your logs seem to show it stopping at a particularly odd place, which I've not seen before. I'm not really sure what to suggest.

I'm almost positive this wont work, but try setting <BDAAlwaysAddTIFAndSections>false</BDAAlwaysAddTIFAndSections> in config.xml.
