I am a total noob at any form of dvr software. I think I have two different problems, but I'll list them both here in case they are linked.

When I start gb-pvr I get an error message:

GB-PVR has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I can move this error window aside though, and go about using gb-pvr.

When I try to watch TV though, it get a message in gb-pvr "No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility and setup EPG source...."

I have done this, a few times to be sure. I got my EPG from SchedulesDirect.

I am using a Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick.

questions: Is there any more info I should have added to this post?
Why am I getting the error message?
Why, even though I have an EPG set up and can see all the channel listings (no program info though) is it telling me I have to do that before I can watch TV?
Is there any other recommended EPG sources? possibly free?

Did you setup you capture source? Did you hit the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button to do a scan, and then to map the channels that were found to your EPG channels? You need to do these steps before GB-PVR can use your capture device.

I just bought a Pinnacle HD Pro Stick and have also had difficulty getting it to work with GB-PVR.

When I try to add a capture source and tick the box that says, "Show only cards attached to this machine" it gives me the box that says no known cards detected in this machine.

I'm sure that there is something simple that I am doing wrong, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is.

The Pinnacle Stick works with Vista Media Center. How do I get GB-PVR to recognize it?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated...

When you tried to setup that capture source, did you remember to set it to use the BDA Recording Plugin? If so, and its still not found, then run the filtercheck.exe utility in the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created.
