Graham Wrote:Series and Episode numbering works a treat for all of the shows that I have tried except the Law and Order shows. My original xmltv.xml output by the grabber (Birtles) has shows called:

<title lang="en">Law and Order</title>
<title lang="en">Law and Order: Criminal Intent</title>
<title lang="en">Law and Order: Special Victims Unit</title>

I have fiddled for hours and I can't get Series and Episode numbering to work consistently for these shows. I have tried changing the "and" for "&" using the Replacements button and tried with and without the colon characters.

The attached contain the EpFetchInclude, Replace and log files plus all of the Law and/& Order files from the TVdbXML folder.

Thanks for all of the good work.

Graham

Hi Graham. I did not need to use any special replace entry to get this working. I believe the correct spelling of the three shows are:

Law & Order
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

These show titles should be what is in the original XML file, though the xml could look like this:

Law &amp; Order

etc...

If your TV guide is displaying the show using an 'and' instead of the ampersand, then you can use the replace.

It's possible now that the wrong.data files exist in the cache, that the Enhancer won't try looking anymore. The easy way to check if the Enhancer can get the series and episode information is by clicking 'Config Episodes'. In the Series dropdown, just Type the Show (Law & Order). Click 'Fetch Series'.

In a moment the episode dropdown should fill, "Prescription for Death"

That action alone, proves it can be downloaded, and Deletes the old files in the cache so it will be ready next time around...

There is one thing to undetsrnd though. theTVdb.com online database is not always 'on' sometimes, a show or two will just NOT work....

Like described in the docs Big Grin

Told ya I was going to re-read things. I hadn't been worrying about Enhancer since I tend to know what I'm watching, but with Renamer getting that Overflow 6 error and you wondering how Manager is working out for people, my Enhancer problem got lumped in there.

Still looks odd, though. Checkboxes show EpNum, Date, Prev-Shown. That's it other than Sub-Title, Desc, Categories on the left under the preview window. So the Actors box doesn't get checked, but I can see actor information in the TVdb folder.

Emailing the regsettings....

I could edit your regsettings and send it back to you, and then have you import the settings. Or I could have you copy the settings from the updated screen shot I posted on the wiki....

Well of course your settings worked fine on my system. That's just Murphy's law. (or at least his cousin's)

Keep trying. I may have you set everything to 'Do Nothing' and just try one setting at a time.

Oh, and you don't have to run the whole everytime. You can stop it after a couple hundred records and check the temp file....

-----

Anyway, I noticed something that will still not have affected you or your attempts, by maybe others.

After I was brought over to the dark side, and started to Get All Info, I haven't checked what happens if you don't check 'Get All Info'

It's actually dreadfully slow... And it shouldn't be. So I will be looking into it.

It all still works fine (or it should) either way. Just it should be a lot faster when you don't have to get info for every single show it finds....

Don't you mean brought over to the right side? You know you love having season/episode information for nearly every imaginable series. I know I do.

Thanks, again.

Frank

I am still struggling with "and" and "&" in show titles.

The XML file that I download from RT using Birtles contains shows called "Law and Order". The TVdb lists these as "Law & Order".

I can click on Config Episodes and the click on Fetch Series and everything works as expected. That is, it does not find "Law and Order", it does find "Law & Order" plus it finds "Law and Order" when I use the Replacements button to translate "Law and Order" into "Law & Order".

When I use the Go button to process an XML file, I do not get the expected results. I used the attached files. After processing the XML file, the TVdbXML folder contains the expected xml files from TVdb and the xml files in the TVdbXML folder contain the sub-titles that are in the original xmltv xml file, but the sub-titles are not updated in the output xmltv xml file that is displayed by clicking on Open New XML.

The sub-titles are not updated when processing either of the attached xml files. That is, changing "and" to "&amp;" makes no difference.

My efforts today have failed to replicate my results from yesterday when some sub-titles got updated and others did not.

Many Thanks

Ok. the first part is done. you are replacing correctly.

Quote:After processing the XML file, the TVdbXML folder contains the expected xml files from TVdb and the xml files in the TVdbXML folder contain the sub-titles that are in the original xmltv xml file, but the sub-titles are not updated in the output xmltv xml file that is displayed by clicking on Open New XML.

Have you selected an action, like 'prepend to subtitle' in config episode? Edit: scratch that.. I see in the regsettings that you are. But you are not using the default tag format. You should be alowwed to do it your way, but it's possible my code doesn't like spaces. I will check the code at home in a few hours...

Don't worry about this. The replacement is working...

Re: "And" and "&" and all that.

It's not the spaces. I am getting good sub-title updates for shows where TVdb does not have an "&" in the title.

The xml files attached to my previos posts are edited to contain about five shows. If you run each xml file using the epfetchinclude and replace files in the attachment, you should get an output xml that is the same as I get.

More Thanks.

Edit: Thanks for your patience. I found the problem and fixed it. .91 is on the wiki...

Only add title to the epfetchinclude.ini (using the GUI) that are actually seen in the Unenhanced TV Guide. (In your case "Law and Order" etc...)

In then create a Replace entry that changes 'Law and Order' to 'Law & Order'...

You will find that it works properly now...

Not 'ere it don't ...

After processing, the TVdbXML folder contains a file called:
"law &amp; order.Episodes.xml"
that contains:
"Query failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND tvepisodes.lastupdated>0 ORDER BY season, EpisodeNumber' at line 1".

I guess that this message is being generated by the database software at TVdb because the SQL contains an "&" that ain't in quotes or doubled-up or whatever.

For the avoidance of doubt:

My original xml file has been stripped to a minimum and contains this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<tv date="20080304" generator-name="XMLTV GUI V. 3.09.03W" generator-url="http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv">

<channel id="channel5.co.uk">
<display-name lang="en">Five</display-name>
</channel>

<programme start="20080304124500 +0000" stop="20080304134500 +0000" channel="channel5.co.uk">
<title lang="en">Law and Order</title>
<sub-title lang="en">Born Again</sub-title>
<desc lang="en">Blah.</desc>
<credits>
<actor>Sam Waterston</actor>
</credits>
<category lang="en">Drama</category>
</programme>

</tv>

My epfetchinclude contains this:

law and order

My replace.ini contains this:

[Replace]
law and order=law & order

Yet More Thanks

Graham
