Howdy,

Checking out this card as a possible purchase for my SWEET new PVR! Planning on running it on an older Win2k system. Specs below. The question I have is what's so special about this thing being the Media Center Edition? Will it be just as happy with GBPVR as say a PVR150? I understand I'll need an MPEG2 decoder. Does GBPVR have one? I noticed all the pointers on Win2k on the home page. I will adhere to them of course. Check out my SCREAMAH as we might say here in Maine!Big Grin

MOBO: Biostar M7VKB
Chipset: Via KT133A
FSB: 200 Mhz
Proc: Athlon 1100 (will overclock if poss!)
ATA-66 bus mastering ide ports

Long live the forums!

Regards,

Yes it should work fine with GBPVR. I have 2 PVR150MCE running XP pro and GBPVR. I do not think there is a hardware difference between the 150 and 150MCE. I choose the 150MCE because mine came with the mce remote, usb reciever and rca connections for the audio.

No but there are a few free ones you can try like DScaler http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Dsca...ilters.htm or MPV_Decoder

Hi,

I just bought a PVR150MCE. I have problems when changing channels. I see green and red lines horizontally, it seems like the card is trying to finetune the channel. It takes 5 seconds or so before I get a stable and correctly colored reception.
Do you have the same problem? What driver have you installed? (I am running Vista, but that should be the same driver?). In my other machine, I don't have this problem with my PVR350 and the same channel numbers.

I'd be wary of 2K - getting long in the tooth now and driver support is getting spotty. XP would be better if you can afford it.

I wouldn't worry too much about 2K. The new OS is scheduled for 2010, so if nothing else just need to hold out till then.

Then again, if it doesn't work with 2K, there are currently only so many alternatives.

If someone considers buying XP, be sure to look at the XP MCE prices. Who knows, access to that MCE EPG information may come in handy one day.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:
