The very first program I recorded on GBPVR (1.1.5), had a thumbnail for the show on the recordings menu. Ever since, no more thumbnails. I have them on TV listings no problem, but just not on recordings. At that time, I hadn't loaded the system up with many plugins either (don't know if that had anything to do with it.)

How can I get these to come up?

GB-PVR doesnt generate thumbnails automatically for shows. You'd need to create the thumbnail files yourself or there will be none.

Sub, are you saying that GBPVR has never created those thumbnails? I've got folder.jpg's that have appeared in the recording folders for shows like "House". I know I never put them there!

Correct. It has never created them automatically.

If you press Ctrl-T during playback of a file, then it'll try to create one, but you have to initiate this manually.

Could that action be made into an API call? I could see that being of use to a plugin developer they could scan through all the recordings and generate thumbnails...

Although I suppose they could just generate the thumbnails manually.

If you remind me prior to 1.3.x then I'll add an API.

GB-PVR just runs ffmpeg to generate it, using the command line specified in the <CaptureScreenshotCmdLine> setting in config.xml.

Maybe as part of your transcode process, (the automated one) you could thumbnail all the recordings as an option for people.

You know, if you ever have nothing to do, ha ha ha!! Big Grin

I did look into that originally but decided 9/10 times you'd end up with the useless screenshot (back of someone, advert, fade to black, motion blur from pan, etc...).

Yeah that's what i thought...so does your control-t take the current frame?? Or just the first frame?

It asks ffmpeg to capture the frame at the current time into the video. It might be +/- a second or so, but definitely good enough to capture a show title or something more meaningful than a random video frame.
