Hi,

I've yet to install the software, and am actually only planning my HW setup at the moment. GBPVR looks to be a great piece of SW and I'm looking forward to using it. I've tried to look through the forum and wiki to find out if it is possible to record multiple parallel programs with one tuner (as long as the channels are witihn the same "bunch" (correct term?)), but I've only found a vague notion that it is not possible. Afaik. it should technically be possible (mediaportal seems to have this feature), so if it is not implemented, is this something that might be coming in the future?

Thanks,
-patrik

...hmmm... didn't do a very thorough job when trying to find info on this subject... 2 topics down was virtually the same question. Anyway, I'm hoping this kind of feature is implemented.

To be honest, I'm probably not going to do this anytime soon. Just add an extra tuner. They're pretty damn cheap these days.

I myself have run out of slots, I'm more hoping for this feature by next Febuary when the digital chageover occurs. I'm ok for now.

Our ABC is now transmitting 3 'channels' (ABC1, ABC2 and ABC3).

And our commercial channels are (often) transmitting different things on HD and SD.

there is other software you can use
but maybe the price you will pay is missed recordings its your choice Smile

A terribly sloppy hack would be editing the database and taking sequential recordings and making one very long recording based on the start time of the first show and the end time of that last show. I supposed one could take the episode title and descriptions and add them to the description of the new very long show. But it's so terribly sloppy...

And yet, as I write this, this terribly sloppy idea seams like good fun. But I'm not promising anyone anything. I won't be doing this until I have my second machine up and running, because I have lost WAYYYY too many shows, writing program on my Production machine... That might not be til summer

Yes...

Who am I kidding? It's like a light bulb went off. And I can't let this go.

I can almost see the logic for it going into Ultra XMLTV Enhancer, so the calculations for the new show are done during EPG Update time.

But the real EPG records are stored elsewhere. One very long record is created, and GB-PVR records as per normal - it will be just a long show.... Then when the long show is finished, I slice it up to include pre and post padding. Since its one long contiguous file, there'll be no timestamp issues. I then reintroduce the cut up shows, into the database with their original show description. I then run Comskip on each file.

OK. That sounds pretty good. Now just need some more time...

In my area, I can get all the local channels in SD on one MUX, so, for instance I could stream the whole mux to my NMT device and switch between them really fast just by hitting the angle key. Or if I want them in HD I could choose between 2 shows. Obviously the logic for recording really needs to be well thought out. Which channels share the same mux, do we wan't the HD stream or the SD stream of the program. what is the priority between SD & HD etc.

But even for a plugin to do this we just need the ability to record the full Transport Stream first.
