Compared to NVIDIA PureVideo, AVIVO does not offer any actual decoding software like the PureVideo MPEG-2 decoder. It only allows decoder developers to utilize the DXVA API.
this outdated?
No, I don't think so. But their video cards that support AVIVO generally (always?) come with an MPG decoder too. Unfortunately if it's making use of the AVIVO API, which you would assume it does, I haven't found it to be very satisfactory myself. If I was them, I'd be embarassed that better performance is offered by NVidia's PureVideo decoder on ATI hardware than their own.
