Hello,

Does Live TV automatically default to the Medium quality setting?

Can you force Live TV recordings to be at a higher quality setting than the normal default for recordings?

THanks,

Live TV automatically uses the "Live TV" quality setting.

Any recordings initiated from live tv will use that live tv quality.

This of course only applies to analog capture sources. There is no concept of recording qualities with digital devices.

Here is a little more information:

By default, Live TV is encoded at a different quality than recordings, but it can be changed. In the config application, in the capture source tab, select your capture source(s) for editing, then click on the settings button. You should see a Quality Profiles Settings area in the lower part of the dialog box. Click on a quality level and then the edit button. You can change the bit rates from that box. In one of my version 1.1.5 installations, the default live TV is 4500/7200 variable bit rate. Medium quality is 3500/7200 and high quality is 5500/9000.

I always want to record at high quality level, so I have changed my medium quality to the high quality bit rates. Now, when I choose Quick Record in the program guide, the recording will be in high quality. (Quick Record always uses the medium quality setting.)
