I had a hiccup where the entries in the RECORDINGS database no longer show up. Newly recorded programs are added but ones that were there no longer appear.

If I use XRECORD, the programs show up but the program episode descriptions do not appear.

If I use VIDEOS, the programs and their descriptions appear.

Is there a way I can rebuild the database to fix the problem?

This most likely occurred because you've moved your record, or they're on a network drive, and the recordings werent visible at some stage.

When GB-PVR loads its recording list it checks if the video files still exist on the disk. If it cant find the files, it assumes you've manually deleted them, then proceeds to remove the recordings from the database to clean up.

If its only just happened, then you can problem use the 'import recordings' feature to import the recordings-dump.xml or recordings-dump.bak from the gbpvr directory.

Thanks. That was exactly what happened.

I didn't give you what would have been a crucial piece of information because I didn't think it would have caused the problem.

I had replaced a 4-port USB hub with a 7-port one. The disk drive I use to store all the GBPVR MPGs is on a drive that goes through the hub. When I started up Windows after making the hub swap, I had to get Windows to recognize the hardware for the hub and then for the disk drive.

Since the disk drive still had the same drive letter after I went through the reinstalling of its drivers I thought it wouldn't affect GBPVR. It did and you nailed it. Not only that but your suggested "fix" worked perfectly.

Thanks again.

I Love This Program and the Great Support that comes with it!

btw: you can disable this behaviour by changing this value in your config.xml file

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

Good to know. I'll do that tomorrow when no recordings are being made.

I think I'll read through that file and see what other configuration settings can be changed.

The same thing just happened to me but thankfully, I had recently made a backup of all ini and xml files. My problem is whenever I try to edit config.xml, PVRX2 won't start anymore. I'm using version 1.2.9. Help?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not using Word Pad. I use EditPadLite as I find it more robust. It's usually pretty good at keeping encoding type and all that (use it for editing Linux text files - LF only, no CR). Wonder why it failed me this time...
