What are you going to be using the system for? The four pci slots would make me think a media server?

it will just be used for gbpvr
have laptop for everything else and dont play games anymore
at the moment i have sempron 2800
its just not upto it
want to record dvb-t HD
also have pvr150,pvr500,hvr4000,and another dvbs tuner =4 pci slots

would rather go intel from past experience amd have always been fast but temperamental but thats not in concrete
psycik how reliable is yours
full size atx is ok

all i want is that it runs 24/7 without crashing Smile
the sempron has always just had a bad driver or fault and runs sweet for weeks then out of the blue will crash like 3 time then will be fine again for weeks

Recording takes very little CPU - simultaneous HD DVB recording on my PC only uses 2-3% CPU. Its the playback that's the killer Smile

Using a Geforce 7200GS with the purevideo drivers I can playback HD at around 20% CPU - AMD Dual Core 4200+

haven't had any problems with it, but its only about 6 months old.

Running 4 tuners, 2 hard drives, 2 gb ram and putting out composite vid, stereo and spdif

Bang for buck, the Intel Core2 technology is top of the heap. I wouldn't think you'd get much return on a quad as we tend to use hardware for the processor intensive stuff. Depends on the price differential, I guess, as to whether it is worth the future proofing factor.

Even with a fresh install you will have the occasional problem, but now (that is, if you succeed in the 1st place) you'll always ask yourself it it's due to not doing a fresh install.Sad
But please go ahead and let us know how you get along.Wink
