A couple of the digital channels I get (KYWDT & WHYYDT) come in fine if I watch them live, but if I schedule a recording (Quick Rec or regular scheduled recording), it pixelates all over the place & when there is audio, it cuts in & out all over the place. This is not intermittent. Live TV is always excellent on these stations & recordings are always corrupt.Playback is the same on the server and on the PCH.

I tried switching to the Cyberlink mux, but recordings from these stations came up with no video - audio only, so I switched back to the TS-mux.

I just recreated this (22:35-22:36 Time frame on 5/14) - I watched a few seconds of CSI-NY live (flawless) & then did a quick record (corrupt) on channel 233 KYWDT. (TS-mux) I've attatched the logs.

Thanks.

It does sound like a muxing problem. I would suggest the dvr-ms mux, but that wont help since you have a PCH.

It sounds like your two tuners are not setup identically, and your second tuner needs to have it's digital mapping redone. If memory serves, when you have two identical tuners watching live TV uses the first available tuner in the list and a recording will use the last available tuner (or visa versa... I always forget).

In any event, if you schedule two recordings to run simultaneously and this theory is correct, one recording will be fine and other screwed up as usual.

I checked the mappings (via the config app) & the entries for KYWDT are identical for both tuners. However, when I scheduled a recording on another station first & THEN on KYWDT, both recordings were fine. So it definitely seems to be an issue with one of the tuners on the HDHR, but strangely, it only affects those two stations...

I'll check the physical connection (although I'm not sure why the problem would be just a couple of stations & not all of them...)

UPDATE: Checked the connections (even tried different cable) Tuner0 records fine, Tuner1 doesn't. I don't seen anything different between the two mapping wise (do I need to look somewhere besides the config app?).

Should I contact SiliconDust at this point?

When you know you will be recording on those two stations, run the HDHR setup and in the "Support" tab, check the box that says "Enable connection to the Silicondust support server" and file a trouble ticket.

I'd empty the EPG and try re-scanning and re-mapping the troubled tuner.

I've had this happen myself when originally setting up the HDHR. I had a couple channels that gave me fits quite like what you're experiencing. I never did figure out if the problem was with the scanning process not returning consistent results or if it was the mapping problem introducing the problems, but in the end I got both tuners working good and I've been afraid to touch it since.

For testing what I did was schedule two long recordings at the same time to start immediately. Once the first started I knew I had the 2nd tuner (aka last tuner in the list) busy, and then I started another recording, this one then claiming the 1st tuner - the one usually engaged by Live TV. Then I cancelled the first recording, freeing up the 2nd tuner only. Then starting Live TV, I knew I was using the troubled tuner and changing channels I could see if they were all working correctly.

Is there a way to do that w/o hosing everything? Last time I emptied & remapped, I ended up with every station listed twice in the EPG & the only way to get rid of the extra channels was to start with a clean gbpvr.dbe & config.xml (which meant none of my previous recordings showed up anymore)

1. empty EPG
2. delete both HDHomeRun tuners
3. remove unreferenced channels
4. exit config to save changes
5. add and configure both HDHomeRun tuners

The above steps worked for me when I had to remap when my cable company moved channels around. Not sure if it would help with your original problem, though.

There's an xml file which contains a list of all recordings. I suggest backing up that file before you do anything. I believe GB-PVR has an option to import recordings, too. Will have to double-check when I get home to confirm.

It called recordings-dump.xml and you can import it in the Config
