whurlston: yes I was, up until it began scanning the next set of channels

I saw the video in the preview window that's right above the "Rescan" button while it was in the process of scanning. I saw TBS playing while it was scanning channel 85, and I think it is the first (85.2), but only 85.3 showed up in the list of channels found that's underneath the "Rescan" button, and it's not TBS, the channel that was playing when it was scanning. All channels show up with "unknown" and no name... It's kind of annoying to map them, but I managed with those channels that will actually play when you click on it. If it matters, these are QAM channels received from my cable TV provider.

Here are the first 2 programs listed for 85 (Service ID is 2 but it is the first service entry so it would be 85.1):

Code:
<service>
  <TSID>0</TSID>
  <service_ID>2</service_ID> [color=Red][/color]
  <service_type>0</service_type>
  <pmt_PID>52</pmt_PID>
  <pcr_PID>0</pcr_PID>
  <video_PID>[color=red][B]0[/B][/color]</video_PID>
</service>
<service>
  <TSID>0</TSID>
  <service_ID>3</service_ID>
  <service_type>0</service_type>
  <pmt_PID>58</pmt_PID>
  <pcr_PID>0</pcr_PID>
  <video_PID>[color=Red][B]0[/B][/color]</video_PID>
</service>
And here is 85.3:
Code:
<service>
  <TSID>0</TSID>
  <service_ID>4</service_ID>
  <service_type>0</service_type>
  <pmt_PID>64</pmt_PID>
  <pcr_PID>8191</pcr_PID>
  <video_PID>[color=red][B]65[/B][/color]</video_PID>
  <[color=red]audio_PID [/color]lang="000" audio_type="0">[color=red][B]68[/B][/color]</audio_PID>
  <audio_PID lang="000" audio_type="0" AC3="true">69</audio_PID>
  <scrambled>true</scrambled>
</service>
Note how the first two have Video PID of 0. 0 is not a valid PID which is why they didn't show up in the list. They also don't have any audio streams mapped.

TBS was most likely the last stream found before 85 was scanned. Check 84.11

Nope... 84.11 is MASN, a sports channel. Sad Am I simply out of luck? Does my cable provider suck? lol

BTW, I found this lineup for my area. A good number of the channels are wrong, but I think it's right about TBS being 85.2.

I doubt it will work but try manually entering the following tuning string for TBS (the "T:" should automatically be entered when you click the tuning string box):
Code:
T:85,85,2~P:3~V:59~A:62~PMT:58

Note: Don't enter it in the scan window but in the Capture Source config window.

Well, the quality bar is good, but the strength bar doesn't register any signal. Sad Sometimes it takes as long as 15 seconds to get good strength on the other channels, but not this one. I'm not sure I recall exactly, but I think the signal strength was 81 when it was scanning... Could this be why it's not showing up?

Yup, that could be the problem. 81 is good for OTA but a little too low for QAM.If you have any splitters before the QAM port on the card, try removing them.

I will try it tomorrow, I guess. Going to bed now... Thanks for all the help, guys. I'd have thought 80% signal strength would be enough.

Trust me, if you could choose the issue you can have with QAM, low signal is the one you would want. Wink

It's easy enough to fix.
