I just installed 1.209 and having a few problems. The first is that randomly my directories in My Videos and My Music will dissappear and then randomly appear again. And it is not all the directories, but just some. For example under my videos I have Current Shows, Former Shows and Recordings. Randomly Former shows will be gone even though it shows in config.exe and then later it will be back without any prompting.

The second issue is that when I go into config.exe it keeps needing the msi file and then acts like it is reinstalling something and the blue status bars go back and forth across the screen and it happens pretty much anytime I go into config.exe.

Any ideas on either of these? I tried to go download an older version and they are no longer there.

Thanks,
John

I've never seen this before, or any reports of it for other users. I dont know what would cause that.

If the MSI install decides it needs to run, Microsoft will usually write a message into the Windows Event Viewer. Have you got anything there? It usually happens because the user has tried tidying up the GB-PVR and deleted files that were installed by the installer.

OK, I never deleted anything, but I uninstalled and reinstalled gbpvr and config.exe seems to work fine now, but my directories are still completely inconsistent. One time they are there the next time one is missing. I have used gbpvr for a year and never had this happen and now after a complete reinstall of XP and now the newest version of gbpvr it is drving me crazy. Does anyone hae an idea?

OK, after a lot of frustration I have finally figured something out. If I start PVRX2 with my remote, my directories (actually entire config) is not updated. If I use the mouse and click on the shortcut for PVRX2 everything is updated correctly and my directories show as they should.

Any ideas what is going on here?

It sounds like its something to do with how you've configured your remote to start PVRX2.

The application wont do this by default, so you must have made some changes to do this. Its probably something like the remote software runs as a different user account, so when you start PVRX2 it isnt able to see some directories that have restricted permissions, or are on network drives mapped under a different user account etc.

I changed the Irremote.ini in the default section. I used the following

GRNPOWER={run(D:\Progra~1\Devnz\GBPVR\PVRX2.exe)}

There is only one account on the PC and the directories are on local drives.

There is always more than one account on a PC. Many of them are system user accounts. For example, the GB-PVR Recording Service runs as an account called 'localsystem'.

When you start the task manager and view the process tab, does it show the PVRX2 running as your user account when started from the remote?

Yes, both the remote and shortcut are Home Theater PC as the user.

do you have your gbpvr folder shared seperate on your network with full access to all users?
