oh and btw: a quick forum search for DVB EPG hang suggests that a weak signal could be the cause. You're not using a piece of wet string or an indoor aerial are you? These tuners need a good signal to prevent corruption to the DVB stream.

Wow, thanks gEd for all the infomation, I really appreciate it Smile. I updated my EPG again this morning and it seemed to work just great but it is always great to know how to set up the Radio Times if it dies again. My aerial is a line directly from the main aerial from the top of my house, so there should be no issues there.

Sorry for the double post, but I have a question regarding my recordings as well.

This doesn't have anything to do with the EPG issue, but when I record using the Microsoft DVR-MS mux it records fine but has a load of statistical information in the top left corner in green, how do I switch that off?

I was using the NVIDIA Audio and Video decoders but I think the problem was that only Windows Media Player was displaying all of the information, since when I played it in VLC there was no text.

I am now using the TS Mux which seems to be doing a much better job and will be easier to convert to other formats, but for some reason it doesn't want to play the recordings in GB-PVR (I click play, the screen goes black for 1 second then switches back to the recordings screen), even though it plays fine in Windows Media Player. Any ideas?

That seems to cover everything. The only tedious and non-obvious bit is mapping the channels. This is mainly because the Radio Times and the broadcasters have slightly different names, so they don't all map automagically.
Also by default the RT listings give you a full 14 days EPG as well as better descriptions and sometimes episode data.

any problems, just ask.

Yeah, when I have some more time I will definitely set that up, thanks again for your help.

In regards to what I said earlier about the TS Mux not playing in GB-PVR, it seems to have sorted itself out and is now working fine. The playback though seems to be a little more jerky than when playing it back in external software, is this normal? What decoders and renderers do you guys use? Here is my setup:

the purevideo decoder is popular and works well for many people

what graphics card do you have?

try changing the renderer to compare performance.

I have the Nvidia 8800 GTS 512MB graphics card, since I am also keen on gaming.

Where can I get the purevideo decoder from since I thought you had to buy it?
