Hey,
I've got a weird one. I've installed gbpvr on a computer with a dvb-s card, and a large library of multimedia files. I can play both live tv, and multimedia files with no problems on the gbpvr server itself fine. However I can view any video/audio on the pch other than the gbpvr menus. I installed according to the guide, and I think I have all the latest plugins for the hd gbpvr menus, etc as well as the latest mvpmc client for the pch. I can telnet, etc to the pch fine, and the gbpvr menus display fine, I can select through them with the remote, etc. However when I go to play either live tv, or a mm file it goes to a blank screen and then after 5-10 seconds shows the popcorn hour screen and comes back to the select source menu on the pch.
My pch is set to 1080i 60hz, I've set the mvpmc config line to all kinds of options and currently have it set with just the -o hdmi & option. Menus in the gbpvr screen look fine and dont bleed through, fall offscreen, etc. In my config.xml I have the following section..
<MAC-0006DCxxxxxx>
<MVPClientType>PCH</MVPClientType>
<MVPWidth>1280</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>0</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>
<MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>true</MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>
</MAC-0006DCxxxxx>

This is the only weird error message I see in the application log.

Faulting application ffmpeg.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ffmpeg.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x001d044b.

Can you zip and attach the GB-PVR logs?

Did you install the patches? http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=34269

I'm pretty sure i had those all installed, but, just to be safe I stopped the service, downloaded them and installed them in the order of the posts. I also deleted *.* in \logs so you wont have to wade through where I've tried about 100 different combinations of things. I rebooted the pch, started the gbpvr recording service, used the telnet script, and then the gbpvr script.
Menu looks fine, full screened in 16x9 on the tv, I went to video library, selected a file, and then after 5-10 seconds it goes to the popcorn hour startup screen about always remember to backup your drive, and then goes back to the media start screen in the popcorn hour menus. I'm running fw version 01-15-080330 on the pcf, same build for the nmt apps.

Any ideas?
THanks

I cant see a definitive cause in your logs, but I did wonder about two things that could be part of the problem .

If you try to play a file without these non-english characters, does it still have the same problem?

Is I: a physical drive, or mapped network drive?

On the questions you asked, non-english characters and mapped drive. It didn't matter what file I tried picking, I tried various encodings, etc, with or without non-english characters in the file names. The drive is a usb disk plugged directly to the gbpvr server.

The error message
2008-05-26 17:42:49.859 VERBOSE [6] Sending OSD frame
2008-05-26 17:42:50.031 VERBOSE [6] About to send incremental update
2008-05-26 17:42:50.093 ERROR [6] error sending incremental frame: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
2008-05-26 17:42:50.093 VERBOSE [6] set MVP to show OSD semi-transparent(2)

at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Send(Byte[] buffer)

bugged me. I remembered seeing a selection for force minimal MVP osd in the config screens, went in and enabled that tick box and everything works now. I can stream both live tv and recorded shows. You might want to add a section to the how to about checking that, as I dont remember seeing anything about having it set off or on as being required.
Thanks!

I'm actually surprised livetv works because you have

getValue: /settings/MVPForceMinimalOSD : false

Edit: You beat me and it is in the survival guide.
