help me out - by posting or sending me to a link to some recordings made from a Nova DVB-S and a DVB-T card in NZ ? i would like to compare the quality of a DVB-s and DVB-t before i go and splash out on buying a sat dish, stb, and a couple of tuners or upgrade my HTPC to be able to handle a Nova T 500.

cheers

you dont need a dish for dvb-t you use a uhf arial
dont waste your time with set top boxes (unless its sky as you have no choice)

just do it the digital recording make the pvr150/500 look very bad though Smile

yeah my 150s are all blurry and stuff thats what i wanted to see what dvb-s and dvb-t look like - ie if there is a huge difference in the dvb-s at SD vs the DVB-t at HD i would look at getting all DVB-t stuff but if the quality wasnt too different then i was going to get DVB-s and save my money on buying a new HTPC to handle all the T shit - also i was going to get a stb just for my tv - not for recording - wanted to get digital quality on my 42" lcd...

ive gone dvb-s for now
3 reasons
1.size of files
2.dvb-t they are using a dumb formate that doesn't match anything else
3.i looked at the difference on my 32" lcd and couldnt see the difference in picture alot of the content is just scaled up SD
that said i will be getting a hvr2200 when the local pc shop gets them in (cheap for what they are )

ok 3 months later and im resigned to the fact i can only have DVB-S on this server - money is tight so i wont be getting a new pc to do DVB-T. So now i have a couple more questions - is there a Dual DVB-S card available ? or will 2x DVB-S cards be required to record 2 channels at once ?

cheers
