Setting duration of time recorded when timeshifting

Can I change the duration of time that is recorded when I am using timeshifting?

I don't think you can, timeshifting is for watching tv and will "record" to the end of the program. Once it gets to the end, it shuts the recording down, and starts a new one for the next program (I think, or it may just carry on writing to the same file).
