After GameZone 2.2 and 2.3 having some fundamental issues, mainly around files that were needed to use Snapshots and XtraEmulators being omitted, I have uploaded version 2.4. I am hoping this will clear up the issues.

So really this about fulfilling on the promissed features of the last two versions.
Also, XtraEmulators uses a different way of launching the emulators from PCGames, so you may well find that what doesnt work in one may work in the other!

PLEASE PLEASE provide feedback when you find an error or issue. Also if it works for you then I need to know this TOO!

GameZone 2.4 available for download from the wiki

Thanks

I installed 2.4, and things just are not working... Sad

1. All my PC Games (Vice City, Megaman X8, Sonic heroes) have 3 popup boxes that show up whenever I try to start them. The first is the .exe name in a popup box, the second is the path to the .exe in a popup box, and the third is just a blank popup box.

I think this may be because I only have the "name" and the "executable" of the game setup. I left the "path", "arguments" and "extensions" blank because it used to just start the game before with just the "name" and "executable" filled in

2. Now when I click on the ATARI and Saturn buttons, it goes to a screen (looks like a rom selection screen) but there is no place to set up a path, arguments, and extensions in the config, so nothing shows up.

Would it be possible to just start the .exe, kind of like the "run disk" in epsxe? That would work best for SFF. Stella works well this way also.

3. Do you have to use the Blue skin to see snapshots? I don't see a place in the config to set a directory for snaps for any other tabs than mame, and there was no mention anywhere that I can see on how to get the snapshots to work.

Ok, so lets start at the basics here, did you have any issues upgrading gamezone? as what you are describing would have been there in gamezone2.3 with snaps: on!
Can you first check the version number of gamezone easyiest way is to check the one in the titlebar of the config app.
next question did you change the names of the PCGames entries within config.xml?

Ok I understand you have two emulators set up one called Atari and one called Saturn, are these setup in PCGames or XtraEmulators, Im guessing that you are using Xtra Emulators and have not gone to ROMPaths after adding an emulator, click the system button and your new emulator should be listed. If I guessed wrong please provide more information, Thanks.

put an image with the same filename as the game but with an extension of .jpg or png, example TekKen.img is the game in the same directory I put an image called TekKen.jpg Notice its case sensitive!
Hope this helps.

No issues when upgrading. I stopped both GBPVR services, deleted the old gamezone.dll, and then installed. I noticed the same errors in PCGames when I upgraded to 2.3 also, but as soon as I deleted the ATARI and Saturn from PCGames tab, the rest of the games worked...

I am using GameZone 2.4, says so right on top of the config window.

I did not change the names of the PCGames within config.xml

I do have ATARI and Saturn set up in XtraEmulators. I missed the area to add ROMPaths, I will check that out again.

I kind of figured this is how it would work, I will give it a try.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will try it out and get back to you.

Still having issues...

1. PCGames: When I click on the button in gamezone's main menu, it kicks me out to pvrx2's main menu. I deleted all the games I had set up, and set them up again, and that did not help.
(I now only have MegamanX8 set up for testing.)
2. XtraEmulator: I can click on the button in gamezone's main menu, it shows all the roms, but if I click on a rom, a cmd window flashed briefly, and that's it.
(I now only have ATARI set up for testing)

I have attached my logs and config.xml.

I am really interested in the Atari and Saturn issue now!

I will check code again for any message boxes being left in anywhere which is what I use for debugging. could you show what entries you have for Atari and Saturn in PC Games. this might be best acheived by using this format:

===================
Name: Play MP3
Executable: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
Path: \\Htpc\mp3
Arguaments: /fullscreen "%FILE%"
Extensions: mp3|m3u
===================

also if you can upload the file
\devnz\gbpvr\Gamezone\Paths\PC Games\Atari

That may help me find the issue.

Thanks

Looking through your logs I notice you are using Commiunity skin, can you try with default Blue Skin

Thanks

As I said, I'm just using ATARI right now for testing, so I will post what I have with that right now.

ATARI setup in PCGames. (used to work with 2.2, now does not work with 2.4, this would just start stella and I would choose which rom to start from within there.)
===================
Name: ATARI
Executable: E:\Games\emulators\atari\stella\stella-2.3.5\stella.exe
Path:
Arguaments:
Extensions:
===================

ATARI setup in XtraEmulator
===================
Name: ATARI
Executable: E:\Games\emulators\atari\stella\stella-2.3.5\stella.exe
Arguaments:
===================

ROM paths setup for ATARI

===================
System: ATARI
Name: ATARI
Extension: bin
Path: E:\Games\emulators\atari\roms
===================

I have uploaded the directory you wanted, and the newest set of logs.

Looking furthur through your logs I see what you have been describing, I didnt get it before :-(

I have managed to reporoduce the issue here where the three msgboxes are displayed and it kicks you out so I will hopefully have that fixed very soon.

As for snapshots and xtraEmulators Im thinking changing to the default blue skin will fix them, if thats your experience then copy the additional files (only the additional) from the blue.gamezone skin directory to the community skin directory and see if that helps it work using community skins.

Back soon.

For Snapshots and XtraEmulators...

I copied over the files, and now I get a popup for the screenshots, but it's just the default gamezone jpg. I will look into it to see if I messed anything up.
EDIT: I found out how to get it to work. I just used photoshop to change my .jpg into a png, and it works fine now. /EDIT:

XtraEmulators still does not seem to work. When I click on ATARI, I get the screen with the roms listed. When I click on one, that's when I get the cmd window flashing for a second, and that's it.
