As the topic says, has anyone used #Develop to write their plugin? I'd really like to see the project if possible. Either C# or VB.NET would be great.

I'm a competent programmer, but I've yet to write a GB-PVR plugin. I'm getting started and doing it in #Develop, and I'd just like to see if I'm going in the right direction.

Thanks!

Yeah, there are several using SharpDevlop. Part of the time when I was working on CDK Scheduler I would use SharpDevelop (mainly when I was at work). I believe the Jorm develops XRecord using SharpDevelop as well.

I've also used Borland C# builder in some ways like it better as a free IDE because of built in debugging.

I have developed the following plugins with sharp develop

Theater
PIM
Fastfind
XRecord

basically everything I have written. I develop on 3 different machines so did not want to install Visual C# on all of them.

Thanks! I'll have a look at those. I'm hoping to write something that will schedule re-encoding in xvid. I realize I could do this with windows scheduler and a batch file, but I really want it built into the UI.

Edit: Actually, it looks like you have transcoding built into the XRecord plugin. Excellent, onto my next idea [Image: smile.gif]

However we still need encoding. So it is easy to encode a video. If you write a batch for it maybe make a plugin so you can select your videos to encode and it does it at night.

Xrecord just does decoding.

I saw transcoder.cs in the source and looked through. It calls some batch file, which I assumed would reencode.

If it's still necessary, that'll be the plugin I'd write. I was imagining having an interface to browse through recordings and be able to tag each one for reencoding to a specified format, along with some bitrate options. Since its a very CPU-intensive task, I'd probably also have to write in some scheduling, doing work only while nothing's scheduled for recording.

Now I'm just thinking out loud here. I guess I'll get started.

That sounds cool. Xrecord decodes xvid to mpeg to play on a mvp.

I'll do what I can. Getting started will be a bit slow, as I haven't written any serious code in a year or so. But I figured this was a good way to have a look at C# and contribute to a software product that I really like.

I've yet to ever write any code that uses A/V codecs, so I guess I'll learn that along the way as well. Thanks for pointing me to the projects you did in #Develop. Your UI code has been a great example. I'm not much of a visual person, but then again my day job is all statistics, so I swear its not my fault.

It is always helpful when more people volunteer. Let us know if you need help.

@sjwaste: So will you be thinking of using an external excoder? something like vlc, or mencode? or will you be trying to make your own?
