I decided to write down the steps I've just gone through doing a fresh install just now. How I WISH this had existed a few months ago!

Requirements:
  • Download of "CD Digital V4.0A" - a complete set of Hauppauge device drivers (can't remember where it comes from, but it's somewhere on the Hauppauge myriad of websites)
  • Download of XMLTV EPG files (I use http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/Djkxml)
  • Download of SatelliteFix.exe
  • and of course - a computer, GBPVR, Windows XP/MCE/Vista etc Smile

Steps:
  • If you want to, uninstall Hauppauge drivers and software using C:\CD Digital V4.0A\hcwclear.exe
  • Install drivers using *:\CD Digital V4.0A\HcwDriverInstall.exe
  • ... cancel Windows "found hardware" dialogs, the installer will do everything.
  • Run SatelliteFix.exe
  • Install IR remote app using *:\CD Digital V4.0A\setup.exe
  • Install GBPVR

When config starts, stop and set up the EPG:
  • Copy djkxml.exe to C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\epg\djkxml.exe (or wherever)
  • Run it, choose your channels you want it to get program info and descriptions for
  • Click Save and close the EPG config app
  • Run djkxml.exe again. It should download the stuff
  • Wait for it to finish (might take a while)
... you want it to be finished before you do the EPG stuff below (I think)

Back in GBPVR config:
  • Setup the Recording Source as Digital Recording Plugin
  • In settings/BDA Device configuration:
  • Device type is Hauppauge HVR-3000 (DVB-S)
  • Region/Transmitter = Optus D1 (NZ FTA)
  • LNB LOF1 = 11300
  • LNB Switch = 0
  • LNB LOF2 = 11300
  • Powered = Y
  • DiSEqC = NONE (in my case anyway)

Back in Edit Recording Source:
  • Change EPG source to DVB EPG Broadcast
  • Click Empty EPG (if desired)
  • Click Update EPG and allow the process to finish
  • Click Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels
  • Click Rescan (or it may scan by itself..?)
  • Click "Enabled" on the channels you want to have present in GBPVR
... should roughly match the channels you chose for EPG info downloads,
... but I figure it's ok not to be downloading info for Parliament TV, stratos
... and a few others that weren't present in djkxml

  • Click OK
  • Change EPG source from DVB EPG Broadcast to XLMTV plugin
  • Click settings and browse to your XML file created above.

Set up other options in config as desired.. mine has Overlay Manager for PVRX2 Video Renderer, VMR7 for GBPVR.exe Renderer (I'm using both as I try and get my PC working with PVRX2 correctly,) System Default for each of the options under MPEG-2 Playback, and Microsoft DVR-MS for BDA Multiplexer (I used to have MainConcept in there .. not sure how to get it back?)

... ok that's how I thought it should go, however my EPG in GBPVR is empty. I have done this successfully a few times before, so I'm sure I'll get it, but can anyone see where I went wrong?

Cheers
Julian.

Just now I switched back to DVB EPG Broadcast as my EPG source. I clicked Update EPG.. it flashed through - too quick. Then I closed out of the config app and opened GBPVR, but the guide was empty. I went back into config and clicked on Update EPG and now it's updating the EPG .. doing scanning etc - much more convincing Smile

Now my EPG is full. Yay. It's quite possible that I had a script running Djkxml all those months, but I wasn't actually using it. lol. I never paid attention to it - it just worked Smile I'll edit the steps above and repost them tomorrow.

Hope this helps someone out there Smile

Was going to ask why you were using a seperate epg grabber instead of just the satelite service, now i am off to search this satelitefix.exe to see what that is about

I found it months ago when I first set this all up. Apparently it's just for the HVR3000 and Nova-S Plus. Not sure what it actually does, though I think I read something about it at the time on a forum. I think I had trouble getting any signal until I ran this exe file.

Googling satellitefix.exe only seems to reveal this page, and these two:

satellitefix is a software fix only for the Happuage application WinTV. I've never had to use it with GBPVR.

lnb settings can be either 11300 or 10750 in nz, depending on your dish. If you're using a sky dish, 10750 can be an option.

Thanks. I had seen that other frequency, but I can't remember what happened when I used it - was a few months ago. I can find out easily enough, but do you know if it changes what you receive? Is it possible to receive both freeview and anything else via satellite without a decoder and without settings changes?
